well guys, i currently am drivng a 2001 integra type-r and i figured i would try somethign else. i really enjoy my car, as it handles great, and is a blast to drive, but the integra is just gettin outdated. i love the car to death but, i have a thing for turbo...and factory turbos = .

i went to a mitsu dealer that is about 1 1/2 away from where I live, and looked at a couple evos. They had a metallic blue evo, and i think the sticker was at 30,500?? It had the recaros in there, but since I've never owned an Evo, I dont know what to look for.

I noticed people on here talkin about ssl's etc? What does that stand for and what does it mean?? Also, I never knew there were different EVO 8 models such as gsr, rs etc. Are these they only 2 and what are the differences?

I am hoping for about 16-18 trade in for my car, put watever is left after payoff on a down payment. As far as which model to pick, i heard there is a super light model that came out? Is it a piece of **** model without options?

What should I look for when buying this car, and how should I keep from gettin screwed?? Im am not wanting to overpay and I really like the car. Do you guys have any strategies or whatever to help me get the best deal? Also how much are you guys paying a month and how is the insurance on these?

PS: ive also'd notice a few evos with hid's while the one at looked at had no hids

 

There is 3 model, RS (lightest), Evo 8, Mr (fastest, better suspension). To me the best deal is to find a used evo for about 20-21k instead of paying 33k otd for an 05, however I've heard 05 is the best year to get. SSL is the extra package thats include leather seats, hids, etc..
Hid comes standard in 03-04, and optional in 05.
As far as payment, I bought the car for 20k with no down payment. Monthly payment is 379, insurance from safeco is 224 a month, 21 yrs old no tickets.
I used to own a turbo integra, which was a fun car, but no where near as fun as an Evo. You'll love it. Hope that helps.

 

It all depends on how much you are willing to spend.

Used evo = hard to find one that has not been raped....might have to fix problems that might show up

New = peace of mind

Get either the RS or the regular evo8

 

see.. now why would they make the 05's w/o hids? is there anything else they took awway from the 05's that were good? as far as gettin an rs, that would be the base model w/o any options right?? I would rather go with the gsr or whatever.

I've looked into buying a used one, but like he said, its hard to find one that hasnt been raped. Even the dealer told me, he gets alot of 03's in the dealership with low miles that have burnt up clutches etc. Im hoping since the evo 9 is coming out, I could get an evo 8 for around 28 or so.

please tell me, what are the major differences between the 05 vs the 03-04 models? I could search for this but I feel better if I ask directly myself. I noticed that the salesman stressed that the 05's came with the tarmac/snow/gravel button thing. what are the advantages of this? thanks for your replies
