How long ago did you buy it. If it wont pass inspection then its a lemon correct. You may be able to recover your dough. I would seriously look into that immediately. Also make sure you get a reasonable appraisal for the bodywork from a friend.

Canada still has the 5mph bumper impact tests , The united states lowered theirs to 2.5 mph. This is where the vehicle has to sustain what NHTSA deems " minimul damage" to the vehicle structure in a 2.5mph impact. We used to have the higher 5mph bumper laws but they were dropped a to 2.5 a few years ago.... 2000 I believe...... Remember the 996 Turbos with the ugly "bumperlets" they had? when they dropped the speed those disappeared............Thank God..........very hideous on such a beautiful car.

well i got the second opinion and its really not all that bad. they said to box the two front horns or whatever u want to call it that goes to the rad support. they also said not to worry about the two beams under the vehicle since they werent too bad. and for the rest they said that the quarter panel could be saved since the crease didnt go above the body line. i must say i am much happier with this purchase now. the first quote for front and rear clip really had me having nightmares. does anyone know common problems with the HID system. the vehicle only has 12000 miles and it seems both ballasts are bad. i changed the bulbs and when it still didnt work i checked for power going into the ballast which there is. thanks

So how much do you think you will be into the vehicle for when the smoke clears?

i just got my evo for 16k. it comes with a salvage title but only the passenger door was hit and still with the oem hood (same vin#). checked frame and there is no damage to it. everything in the front is stock and with a even dust on it ( not parted out). got it from ebay and have some friends test drove it. the only problem i got so far is the anti lock light came on and off after i restarted the car. but seems like it's common problem.

To good to be true... I want an EVO so bad too (I mean I even have considered doing Fear Factor to get the money to buy an EVO, sh*t I'd sell my left nutt to get my hands on an EVO), but $16K price tag would even raise some flags with me. I hope everything works out and I hope this doesn't sway your opinion of the EVO. Live and learn from your mistakes. When you one day get your hands on a good EVO, it will be all worth the trouble. I use to own a 400HP 3000GT VR4 that I loved with all my heart, one test drive of an EVO, and I became the fanatic that I still am to this day. Too bad I wrecked the VR4 and put myself in the hole I am still in today. One day my dream will come true...
