I've made a huge mistake!!!

i just registered maybe a day ago and am waiting to post on
the newbie forum to introduce myself.I just purchased a 2003 evo 8 with 11k
on the car.i did a car fax and verified the clean title before i purchased
it.the seller was private in my neighborhood and said it needed some paint
and body work.i inspected the vehicle the best i could before getting the
loan.now that i own the car i had a good body shop look at it. the estimate
is for a 100hrs of work.including front clip and rear clip.thats with me
pulling the motor and removing all the trim.i bought the car for 16 grand.i
just wanted to get a recommendation from someone who knows what im going to
be looking at in terms of money, time and work.im such a sucker.i wanted an
evo so bad and now i have more than i bargained for.the windshield sticker
says team dwyer racing.the body guy said it looks like this evo spun out at
a track and thats why it still has a clean title since there was no
report.should i consider repairing this frame or is it possible to buy a
theft recovery thats only the frame left.im so lost and feel so burnt on
this deal.any recommendations would be appreciated.if all else fails do you
think i could strip the car and sell enough parts to make my 16 grand
back?

Sorry to hear that, 16 grand should have been your first clue that something’s not right, oh well live and learn. Sell it on e bay, parting everything out takes a long time. And then go raise hell with your neighbor

u cant. i have dual citizenship and took advantage of the situation. i just bought the car from my home town in michigan. i have it plated and registered and insured in the states i just work in toronto and am home on weekends. trust me i know that u cant have one in canada and i am the envy of my friends and town. seriously though even if i was back home in michigan i would still be in this perdicament. the car drives mint. the frame is the issue. i just wanted an evo so bad and wanted to be the only one in toronto driving one as a daily driver that i rushed into it. if anyone can make any suggestions regarding what i should do in terms of finding a way to swap my good parts on to a wrecked evo or lancer. maybe just try and re sell the vehicle? thanks for the help

well here is what i saw. there has been an attempt to cover up the damage as best as possible. the two post coming from the cabin to the rad support, i believe is called the horns or apron? im not sure. they were adjusted by cutting slits into and holes to make it bend easier. they didnt even weld or attach the rad support. i dont know how it didnt rattle or make any noise since its not secure. the rear end damage the estimate called for rear right quarter panel and floor panel. so it would be easier to just get the rear clip instead of investing time into "smoothing" what is there. this is why im so concerned about the lancer to evo conversion. a lancer is a dime a dozen in toronto and i would be able to get parts really easy.thank u for the suggestions and comments again

id try to look into some kind of fraud or something, since it was obvisouly in an accident and not repaired properly then you not knowing buy the vehicle with damaged support pillars, what if you got in an accident and died becuase you didnt know of its condition...

Get a second opinion, does it drive good....straight.....maybe it is not as bad, then maybe . I went thru the same thing, it worked out for me eventually. I bought a car with a left rear quarter damage and had to buy another damaged car to fix it, then i parted out the second car. Good luck!

It'd be easier to talk about this if you had some photos to post

sorry to get off topic, but why can't you own an evo in canada? i just visited there(vancouver) a little over a month ago and saw a bunch of nice imports including an sti. also there was some import convention or something the night after so all the models and promoters were partying there. maybe that's why all those cars showed up.

sti's are sold in canada. evo's are not maybe because of the high saftey standards of canada.

as for the car, it is fully drivable, and according to my friend abhay, it drives great. he was telling me about it. he didn't hear any rattles or thumps. when they looked at the car, they did see the under lining of the trunk kind of screwed up. but they didn't see anything ****ed up in the front.

give me a call. i left you a pm with my number

Thank u for the responses. i will post some photos so that its easier to illustrate the damage. the vehicle drives so solid. tracks straight and has no vibration. it only has 11k miles on it and it drives like it. does anyone know if lancer parts will cross over. my main concern is getting the support pillars fixed and getting the rad support fastened properly to the pillars.so it would be nice if lancer parts will work in my situation
