I just got my 05 EVO two weeks ago and did my first oil change at 600 miles. While under there I notice that the under coating doesn't seem to be fully dry. I get the black stuff on my hands if I touch it. Has anyone noticed this before?

Also I noticed the cross member that the front control arms attach to has paint peeling off in a few spots exposing the metal. Did anyone else have this issue? Thanks

 

The black coating on the bottom is tar. It is there to help mostly during the transporting of the vehicle across the ocean. It will eventually come off and it's normal. As far as the crossmember, I'll try to look at mine later.

 

The undercoating goo never actually fully dries. I believe there is a thread or two on the subject.
