I want to buy an MR today, and he told me that he'll have to ship it over from Mitchegan or something and I have to pay $800!!??? Could someone verify that?

It's Michigan...just ask them to locate it for you...and deal directly with that dealership...Since you're from STL area, it shouldn't be too far of a drive...probably less than a 12hr drive....3-4X at the pump should cost you less than $200 to get back...

My local dealership outsourced mine from Indiana. At first they found one in Northern Wisconsin, but it turns out the MR had over 400 miles on it. Hauling the vehicle via truck was $400 and the dealership took care of half the cost. $800 seems a little excessive!

post up in the region boards or just browse them and ask a few favors of mitsu owners in "Mitchegan"

the guys are pretty willing to help people out like that from what I've seen. Make your own calls to the dealerships, but the members of this site that live up there might just have seen it and never knew you are looking for it.

A dealer can say that any fee is legit, but in all actuality, you can get out of any fee, including the doc fee. As MR's are hard to find, they might be a little reluctant to cut you a deal. BTW, delivery fees are not uncommon, but I wouldn't pay one.
