It crossed my mind because not all cars have such an adaptive ECU. With a 94 RX7, you will lean out and blow the engine with anything more than downpipe, catback and intake without some form of engine management. The easiest way is to buy a reflashed ecu or PowerFC, which is a completely new ecu.

That still doesn't require a standalone EMS...just some form of tuning.
