keep the MR, simply ask yourself this. Why would i want to Downgrade? your going from a top of the line evo 8 to the striped down, track model evo 9? i mean is mivec really worth it? in my eyes no.

Thus backing up the fact that most guys working at the dealers are complete morons.

Sorry for jumping in here but sort of in the same dilemma...except I dont have either. I have an stg2 WRX wagon (because they couldnt friggin import the Evo wagon ) anyway, now I'm kinda looking at a used 05 MR and a new 06 RS. I do about 3-4 trackdays a year. I just drove the used MR and loved it, can't get it out of my head, the suspension worked sooooo nice on the rippled socal streets and it was in great shape, however, I can get the new RS for around $2000 cheaper than the MR. Seems like the consensus here is to choose the MR. I was slightly disappointed by the power drop after about 6000 rpm or so on the MR, does the 06 motor give better power on top? How else does the motor differ? Sorry for these questions as I'm sure I could research better but I'm on vacation and limited time to do so as well as I must decide soon.

well in your case, why go used, i mean just to say you get a 05 MR that was beat the **** up on by its previous owner. that would tarnish your look on the evo. id say best bet for you would be the brand new 06 evo rs.

Dont think it was beat on, the prev owner was in his 40's, already had an Viper and a Posche, all the service records were filled and stamped in by the dealer, the car had 18k miles, not a scratch or tear or anything.

well the only thing you will be getting will be the 5 speed instead of the 6 speed...stiffer ride....ummm i dont think you will notice, louder...who cares. unless you want to keep the sound stock....um gay! and since when is 10k miles alot. i put 14k on my car since Nov.
if you bought an evo to say...i have an evo then get the 9 cause everyone will think you are cooler for having the newest version. if you are hardcore you'll replace your worries about non MIVEC and make your 8 bad ace.
