Don't feel bad even car guys get raped
As mentioned in an earlier thread I have sold my lude and am considering buying a new Evo. I called the only 2 dealers within a four hour drive to get some prices. Just to give you a little background I am the sales manager for a Chevrolet dealership so I have access to invoice. One dealer I talked with is a Chevrolet dealer as well and I have dealt with the manager on several different occasions through dealer trades. He faxed over the invoices to me and told me that he wants 2500 over MSRP for an MR (told me that he had sold the last 4 or 5 for 6-8k over), and MSRP for a 9 with SSL (said the last few sold for 2-3 k over). I was shocked to say the least. The second dealer I called was extremely rude, not to mention ignorant (had no idea what SSL was), and told me they wouldn't give me any pricing until I gave them full name, address, phone #, etc. I thanked them and told them I don't do business that way and hung up. There is no way I am going to pay 2500 over MSRP. I might consider paying MSRP for an SSL. At this point I am going to hold off until spring when things die down a bit and there are possibly some rebates on them. My other option is, I am thinking of purchasing a new Corvette with the z51 package. Being a Chevrolet employee I get GMS which is a huge savings. I can buy an Evo for around 550 a month, or lease a Corvette for 550 a month @ 48 months. Believe it or not I am still leaning towards the Evo as I can use it year round (MT winters suck) but a new Vette would be sweet too.
The Corvette is an outstanding car and trumphs the Evo in pretty much everything. You would be extremely foolish to choose an Evo over a Corvette for the same amount of money.
EDIT: Blargh, a lease. How much to own?

well you should consider the entire 48 states, have the car shipped i'm positive you'll find a good price. I found mine last year in dec for 2000 under msrp.
If not you can always get a corvette haha, but working there i'm sure you've considered it.
How much can you get a zo6 for?
*****msrp not invoice sorry*****

hey, if u can afford it, get the C6 and buy some bridgestone blizzak ws50 tires for winter. don't lease it though, that's a waste of $, unless it'll cost less to pay off the rest of the price after lease expires to own the car
just do the math.

Don't get me wrong the new C6 is a wicked machine, but they are not the most practical. 2 doors, no backseat, and rear wheel drive make them an expensive toy. They put down about 330ish hp stock and are much more expensive to mod. It is going to cost you about 2k for 375 wheel hp after that it really gets expensive. Not to mention getting smoked by an Evo is much more humbling than a Vette.

just do the math.48 month lease with 500 down = 524 a month with a LEV of 22080.
72 month purchase with 1000 down = 669 @ 5.99%
It generally takes 48 months on a 72 month loan to reach an equity position. Because I'm buying for GMS, let's cut this number down to 36 for argument sake, and let's figure the car will be traded in at 48 months.
669 x 48 = 32112 paid into the loan. If it takes 36 months to gain equity, (which is unlikely) then the 4th year of payments should put me to the positive. So the additional 12 months x 669 = 8028. Now everyone knows interest is still being taken into consideration as not all of that 8028 is gong towards the balance. Let's say 75% is going to principal which is probably generous. So the end of the 4th year I am going to have app. 6000 in equity.
525 x 48 = 25200 paid into the lease. Just the difference between loan and lease payment has put 6900 in my pocket. I could invest this money and make a few bucks but we won't even take that into consideration. At the expiration of the lease I am going to owe 22080. I have no idea of what the market on a Vette is going to be 4 years from now so I am going to book out a 4 year old Vette. Kelley Book shows a Retail of 33000 and Wholesale of 28000 dollars for a like equipped vette. So let's say we take the middle and sell it for 30000 even. After paying off the lease buyout that leaves a positive equity position of 7900 dollars. This combined with the 6900 I saved in lease payments + the 500 less down payment, leaves me with a grand total of 15300 that I can do what I want with. This makes it a better way to go by 9300. Now you tell me which is the better way to go.
