When i test drove the VIII and IX i found myself in the powerband much better, it might be the shorter gears, but it seems like i never dropped out of boost.

details please. i've read/heard that with MIVEC all IXs get full turbo spool at 2800-3000 rpm as opposed to the VIII's 3500 rpm. is this true?????

with the IX it doesn't feel like your going to stall your car at low rpm like the VIII. power comes faster it seems like. i just got my best motoring video where they test the IX and VIII and all the drivers like the IX much more and it out ran the VIII in every test.

this has been covered, use the search button. Many ppl have traded the VIII for the IX, and some ppl have test drived it. Yes i believe the IX pulls harder on the low rpms and spools faster yea i forgot the exact number but u can research it

is the difference between the 8 and 9 a big enough one to take a $7,000 hit on a trade in, i would deffinatly buy another RS if i did.

Definately not, if you have a 05 rs there is no reason at all to go for a 06 rs, there are some things that are nicer in the 06, but it doesn't justify the cost of 7000

If you are comparing an 03-04 VIII there is a big difference.

The 05's have a number of improvements that really make it hard to justify.
