Should I get an '03, '04, or '05 Evo?

I have the option of getting an 03, 04, or 05 but here is the catch.

2003: I can get now but I need to sell my SRT-4. 2003 Evo is known to have problems which I REALLY don't want to deal with. I;'m confused because some are ok others are really ****ty.

2004: I can get this immediately too but not sure of the potential problems it may have.

2005: I can get one in January-February 2006.

What do you recommend? Wait and get the '05 or get the '03-'04 now?

Thank you

Get the one you want and stop asking us to make such a big decision for you.

Yeah, not sure what you're asking.

Are you saying you don't want to wait?

I say wait. 3 months to wait for less miles, more value and minor improvements is a no brainer.

get the 05 evo. its faster and has a lil more potential than the 03-04 because of the 10.5 hotside. it also has the limited slip in the front diff, has the active center diff, better wastegate to hold boost, and teflon coated shift cables from better smoother shifting.

just to show u how much better 05 wit the hotside or compare to an 03. my friend had a stock 05 and i have a 03 wit a boost controller, TBE, bigger FMIC, and intake. and on a highway pull he was a lil faster than me. that hotside makes a difference. and now that he has a TBE, intake, and boost controller he just flat out pulls on me.

so get the 05

Yes I understand the '05 is better and is a no-brainer in terms of being newer, ie. less miles, etc...but is it better in terms of reliabelility?

I need a reliable daily driver for a 36 mile commute each day and I will not settle for anything less than an Evo or STi. I just need to know which one of the Evos is most reliable, that's all.

Thank you

If you take care of it, they'll all be reliable.

i will never by a used car again........though my first 2 cars were used and lasted for a good few years, i had to a lot more maintenance and parts replacement than usual to keep them going. none the less they kept going, but burned a bigger whole in my pocket. unless you buy a used car from someone you know, its probably should be fine.

put it this way, i traded in my first car (civic w/ engine swap, tons of electrical problems due to me doing the swap *my first*, but the paint and body was really good and clean) and managed to get the private selling value and purchased my second car (integra, also slightly used, 5k on the OD) at a dealership. so if i could fool a dealership, imagine what can be done on the street.

Yeah I understand with the right care the car should last long but we are talking about USED vehicles, meaning a previous owner could have beat the hell out of it or babied it.

It seems some of you are not understanding what I'm asking. Do the '03s have a problem others do NOT when the same care applied and all else is equal?

Thanks

wait on the 05, patience pays off, dont buy a car out of impulse buying, its a way to screw yourself every time.

read the posts ahead to show the pluses to the 05's.
