Hello I R teh newbie

Hey guys, just a fellow car enthusiast, but I am not a DSM owner. I actually have an '05 STi (got to know what makes the enemy ticks right? ) and love it. I don't know why some people with Evos hate STis and STis hate Evos. I think both are awesome, wonderfully made and FUN cars. I mean that's why they have such a fierce rivalry right? Anyways, I hope to buy an Evo VIII or IX RS in two years (or whenever I can afford one) for a project car. So, I'm here help to pass the time and learn from the gurus; afterall, it's never too soon to learn and start planning right? BTW: I was at a Mitsu dealership with a friend last week to kill some time and I asked how much the IX MR was and I was quoted 39K, isn't that like a 4K mark up? That's just crazy and that's why I'm waiting a few years until the prices come down.

There have been reports of even higher markups at some places, so it's no surprise.

hey what's up... my friend has a 05 STi and comes to a lot of chicago evo meets with me...and we don't make him sit by himself in the corner. Maybe we'll see you around, Maybe we could show some love and have an all EVO/STi meet in schaumburg before winter.

No way, we need to do it in the dead middle of winter, that's what AWD is about right? Haha, probably freeze to death though. If any of you guys snowboard/ski though, we may have a snowboard meet sometime this winter.

you can get the evo 9 mr for msrp - you just have to find the right dealership

btw- if you think 39k is crazy, try 43k for one in hawaii!

nobody with smarts pays the markup. The dealers put it on, and anyone with any negotiating skills gets the car for MSRP or better. Hawaii is a special case as they're an island, and you can't play dealer against each other as easily.

that would be pretty cool, except, me and my friends usually take my mom's Grand Caravan when we do that

Hey that snowboard idea is good, we are going to chestnut on dec 10 with a group of friends and staying in our friends winter home there for the weekend, but that would be cool to have a huge group. we go up to wisconsin and the up alot too. Let's try to get a winter meet.

Chestnut is probably the best around here, although the drive out there is pretty crazy..

We should do a Colorado meet

exactly ^^
hawaii has only one mitsu dealership so they have the monopoly.
but more people are now buying from the mainland to get the car cheaper

btw - we have 2 gg mr 9s being shipped as we speak for a much more reasonably price of msrp
