General EVO Maintenance - Good Practices - Info Needed
Ok... after reading about and obsessing over EVO's for 3 years... I'm finally gonna get one. The deal is already made, I'm just waiting for the thing to arrive.
Now, I have some basic knowledge on the EVO and I read the forums etc to learn what I can... but there is still a lot I need to know. I don't plan on modding my EVO. I will probably keep it completely stock. I don't really have the time or extra cash to get into that whole scene (and... I can see how it would get addictive once I started). Actualy one of the reasons I got this car is because it is pretty much like buying a new car that was modded by the factory. The performance, power and everything is just right for me... I don't think I need to mess with it.
Obviously when I get the car, I'm going to go through the manual and see what it says about how to maintain the car... but I was wondering if anybody here knows where I might find a general guide that gives a good overview of what to watch out for... and what to replace regularly. I'm talking about which fluids to use... how often to change them... which parts generally go first... how to fix them... that kind of stuff.
I want to take good care of this thing... and I want to do it right.
Any advice is appreciated.

Generally you want to go above and beyond what the manufacturer tells you, being that the EVO is a performance car. Create a maintenace schedule i.e How often you are going to change your Oil, diff fluids, plugs, etc. and stick to it. Search this site and you will find many stickys having to do with maintenance.
Good Luck!!!

My advice as far as fluids go is to always make sure you put exactly what the manual says. For example, the transfer case and rear differential only use Mitsubishi Diaqueen LSD oil. Using substitutes or other kinds will give you problems. Just make sure you do your regular maintenance using the highest quality of products.
Ok, thanks. Will do.
I'll keep reading through the forums and I'll take your advice on the fluids.
The only "mods" I think I'm going to need soon.... are all season tires. (And I'm considering taking off the wing... but haven't decided yet).
