Hopefully getting a IX soon
(sorry if this is a waste of a thread)
Yeah, in a couple of months. I have to get a job that makes at least $600 month first, I'll be financing it for 60 months becuase i plan on keeping it. (its my realistic dream car). oh yeah, im one of those people who wants to work for their money and buy things on their own.
I went to a nearby dealership and looked at them (RS,IX,MR) and i really wanted a blue ix but my friend has a blue rsx and he said he has to clean it almost daily so i might get the graphite grey instead.(Any opinions?)
(some background stuff about me)
im 18 (19 in Jan.)
go to college
barely get $500 a month(thats why i still live w/ my parents)
have a g/f (so impressing girls is out of the question)
never had a manual car
about a little over a year of driving experience
ps. when i test drove a VIII MR at the dealership...my g/f said i was driving stick better than the guy who took us out

First off, I'm not trying to be mean. So dont make a retaliatory post.
You need a lot more then 600 a month to own an Evo. The payment and insurance alone is anywhere from 450-900 dollars a month. Then theres maintenance, tires only last 7-15k miles and cost bout 1100 for another set of tires (the stock one, but there the best), clutches last anywhere from 10k-50k, cost 1000+ installed, the car kinda sips alot of gas (which isn't the cheapest), etc.. then there is the part about how a unexperianced person should not own EVO. Etc., etc. etc.
I also feel the need to do this (make this post telling you just to rethink you buying an evo idea a little) so that the others people on this board dont have to tell you since they have already told 100s of others (and I have told none)

since Evo Kid has already said that i am an unexperienced and therefore unqualified to drive an evo, no one else can say it. i dont want a huge 15 page thread having post after post saying "ur to inexperienced". i want some feedback on questions i ask, etc.
i want a thread that has meaning, not just a bunch of BS. thx.

Not trying to be rude, Just stating the obvious....
i think its funny how all these kids come in here asking for advice, but get all bent out of shape when the advice given isn't what they want to hear. So here you go:
Sure, get the evo 9 MR! it's the best thing to get. $600 bucks a month will be MORE that enough to pay for car payment/insurance/routine maintenance (don't forget, Mobile1 synthetic only, at about $30 bucks just for the oil. super unleaded only) But don't worry about it man, your parents got that bill right? Cool.. Then do it!
I'd like to be a fly on that wall when they get that first clutch replacement bill... LoL
EDIT: Or when that first insurance payment comes in the mail.

she doesnt really do that, we pay for stuff basically evenly, its rare but it happends. i actually owe her money.
and i might have 10k for a down payment
and 600 /month is an my estimated price for the car payment only.
oh yeah and M00kie.....i love that sarcasm

even with $10K down, you're still going to be looking at a car payment of $500+/month considering you probably have no credit or bad credit. if you're only going to be making $600/month, i sure hope you're parents are going to pay for EVERYthing else in your life for the next 5 years or so...
I had the exact same question. I am going to purchase my evo April first yay. Anyways, i am putting 10 thousand down, but i am going to have my parents purchase the car so i get their credit. Also my parents work for the City of Boulder and their credit union gets really good intrest rates. If you purchase the car and you have either bad credit or no credit good luck. I have a full time job and i get about 1400 a month. But i am also paying half the car payment and all of the insurance. I luck out because my dad is a mechanic, so clutch and that stuff he can do but i still have to pay for the part. Since you dont have that much experience in a clutch, you might be running through them pretty quickly, and that can add up. Your parents arnt millionaires you said, so after maitinece adds up they may not want to pay for it anymore. But if they said dont worry about it, then hell ya go buy it asap.
