Just bought an Evo IX

I just got back from the dealership. Hopefully it will be here by Monday. It's black, IX, no extras. I am kinda regretting it already. I didn't get the payments, apr, term or color I wanted (red). Not to mention it's being delivered by a person DRIVING it from Kentucky to Memphis, TN. I guess it won't take long for the break-in period.

Some plusses, I'm getting an EVO, hell yeah. I traded in my Xterra at a pretty fair market value. I did not want to deal w/ the hassle of selling it, then saying hang on let me go order an Evo. I paid $30,700 for the car w/ 6.9% @ 66 months. They gave me 22,300 for my truck and I put $1,000 down. So, OTD was $37,656 w/ GAP protection. Had I sold my truck privately I would have probably had to make up a grand or more there, waited for a while, and had to pay taxes on the full $31K of th Evo. Instead I only paid taxes on the difference which got me about $2K.

Anyways, I will post pics and impressions (as if you guys haven't read/seen enough of these). I will probably be fine when I get an Evo instead of this Ford Taurus they gave me. lol

I have been lurking a while here, I guess I can contribute now.

I also would like to say I fix rashed 600RR fairings and paint them for re sale. I am about to paint a couple of tails and a mids this weekend black. If anyone is interested in that service.

Yeah, I guess it's just because my truck's gone and I have nothing to show for haggling for 4 hours.

Maybe somebody can post up a feel good Evo story to get my through until monday.

I hear ya bout the someone driving it. I had the same experience. It would have been a good 300+ miles someone would have driven my new Evo before I could get it. I told them to ship it or I'd walk. They wouldn't, so I walked. F*ckers.

Ended up going somewhere else and they gave me a lower price on the car and quoted a $400 cheaper price to have it shipped... they also said they'd split the shipping of the car with me, so I did that.

Having someone drive the car before I got to would make me not want it.. You will never know if that person was abusive to the car. Or will you?!?!?! When I bought my IX the salesman told me that there is a "black box" in the car. This box is supposed to be able to read how the car was driven for the past 24 or 48 hours. He said it was used for determining if a car was driven like **** when customer brought it in for a warranty repair. Don't know if this is true or not. Just something to think about I guess...

Congrats man, you won't have any buyers remorse once you get to drive it for awhile. I'm still in love with my 03!

Yeah, I hear you guys on the miles issue. Problem is I had already signed a deal. This stealership comes up with an offer and has you sign it before they take it to the business manager. By signing you agree that if he agrees to those terms, then you will buy the car. Hell, we had already gotten through signing half of the 15 peices of paper when they showed me the sheet with the mileage on it. I didn't think it was an issue b/c I assumed it would be trucked in.

Oh well, maybe some old geezer will have driven it and I will be that much closer to the break-in period ending, which is ALWAYS a good thing.

Congrats 600RR! (I ride an F4i) Don't sweat the delivery too much because:

a) There's not much you can do about it anyway, although you might make it known that you will not appreciate the car being driven unusually hard during break-in.

b) Some say break-in should not be such a gentle process. I had mine railing Deal's Gap at 34 miles on the odo...not wringing it out necessarily, but wasn't babying it.

On a seperate note, why does everyone clamor for pictures of a new, stock Evo? We all know what it looks like. It's a bit of a pain to get good shots, and get them posted up...and this is at a time when he's got a brand new ride. I'll get more of a kick out of hearing what he thinks of it. Go pimp that sucker! We'll be here when ya get back.
