Exactly Z... Crotch you can get a lot out of the stock motor with some mods that will be cheaper and better than the engine swap. The crank and cam are forged already and the crank mains are beefy. If you get crower rods($720), JE pistons($670), ARP head bolts($300), and some better vlv springs($200) you'll be a super strong 4G94. The crank and cam can take around 350-400hp. The manual tranny I wouldn't push past 325HP and that is with the LSD($900). With an intercooled turbo kit($3500) you should be able to push 12-14lbs with ease. If you get your injectors laser cut/ported($350) you can probably get up higher on the boost with the same pump that comes with the kit? Now that all that is done throw in a stand alone system($1400) and the dyno time to set everything right($600) and you should easily be around 300hp no problem. Total: Figure 10g's as you have to include a lot of little things and some install fees. This is a very fast conversion as well since everything fits right and you don't have to engineer anything. You have to consider how much you time is worth as you'll be under the car awhile trying to put a totally different power plant in. Just something to consider. Hell, im at 7lbs on stock rods and i'm fast as hell considering what i used to be stock NA.

RPW mentions this and a number of other possible swaps on their website. I suggest you check it out http://www.rpw.com.au/

Or just do what boeturbolancer said and save yourself $$$ and time.
