Hi Evo Fans...just joined the party! :)
Hi all!
I must be one lucky guy 'cause I just drove away in my new '03 Lightning Yellow Evo VIII yesterday afternoon...and wasn't even on the waitlist.
On the way home from lunch yesterday, I took a quick glance over at the Mitsu dealership (Stohlman in McLean, VA) just to see if indeed the Evo had arrived. To my surprise
, a yellow one was parked right in front of the door. In a rush of excitement, I pulled a quick U-turn and ran up to it to find a red one next to it. Both had not been spoken for?!! Though, there's a long waitlist at Stohlman, I found that the expected buyers for these two didn't qualify or whatever...but anyway, these two were available.
Right there and then, I decided to trade my '03 WRX (Sonic Yellow) for the Evo...what an impulse buy?!
. A month ago, I all but gave up on the Evo 'cause the waitlist was so long. When I found that this one was available and with NO dealer mark-up, I jumped on it.
I absolutely love this car...it's awesome. It reminds me of my former '90 BMW M3 (E30)...a true race car. The WRX feels like a Buick in comparison. I can't wait till the break-in period is over!
Well, I just wanted to share my story with you all. I was so excited to get one under these circumstances.
Best regards, and I look forward to sharing Evo stories and info with you all in the future!
Peace!

you must have got there right after i left. i sat in that one and looked it over real good. the yellow one right in front of the door right?
I drove the red one also. it had a 'sold' sign on it, but they later took it out.
i put a deposit down for a blue one, which they said they should get in a month. their waiting list for specific colors has 9 people on it, me being number 9.
congrats on your new purchase!

congratulations, that really is the best dealer in the area to work with, I took their first silver one a few hours after it rolled off the truck. I had a feelign they were having trouble selling the yellow ones (they had 2 as of last wendsday), and I thought the red one was spoken for too.. I almsot feel dumb for having left a deposit almost a year ago, but hey i got the silver one, and i love it, so no harm. Hope to see you on the beltway, or such.
Thanks Everyone! Just had to share my outrageous luck
msb175 / Thwack: once we get some critical mass of Evo drivers in the DC Area...how about we all get together for a track session or two. There's Summit Point that's close by (~20miles west of Leesburg), and VIR about 3 hours away near Danville, VA.
Check out www.speedtrialusa.com for summer track events in the area. Carguys, Fridays At The Track (FATT), etc. also run at SP. I'll be sure to post whenever I'm planning to participate in one....
I gotta tell you...this car is track ready!!!
Rev on!

Congrats Leonardo! Turtle Power! huhu
I'll keep an eye out for you. I'm one of the other Yellow Evos in the NoVA area.
I was talking to a person at Stohlman recently. He said that the people on the list before the car was released wanted specific colors and options....and almost none were willing to compromise and take what was available in the first shipment of cars. odd that no one wanted yellow....I think that color rawks!

modvp: I took a bloody nose on my trade-in. They only gave me $17k, which was equivalent to my loan pay-off. However, the thrill and excitement from this car numbs the shock or logic of the trade-in value....no regrets, baby!
You're gonna love it...it really is an awesome car!
SC: I'll look out for you too! I think Yellow is one of the best colors out there...no stealth for us, eh?
Cheers,
Leonardo
