Hey everyone. My name is Kris. I am in Miami, Florida and got my 06 MR last Monday. Let me tell you...It is a blast. Which I am sure many of you already knew. Hate the car payments but still...It is a good time. Still breaking her in until I really lay into it but so far...Wow!

I come from the SRTforums as a moderator over there. I sold my 03 SRT-4 about 2 months ago. Made 500whp on it...ok...It was 499whp/490wtq but you get the idea! This car was fully built and I loved every second of it. I just sold it to find something new. Check out pics at: SRT-4 Pics . I was actually sponsored but unfortunately I spent most of the season rebuilding the engine. Sponsors included: AEM, Crane Cams, Clutch Masters, DC Sports, AGP Turbo, Exhaust Depot, and Lujan Motorsports.

Anyway, just figured I would introduce myself. It is 5am so it is time to get to work...Nice to be here and hopefully it will be a good time with this Evo! If anyone needs anything in South Florida, feel free to get with me as I did most of the work on my car...have written number How-To's and so on.

congrats on your purchase! I dont know much about the new EVO IX except the fact that it is a monster from factory... puts more power than fully bolt on evo 8s with cams... well welcome to evom and enjoy!

 

According to Shiv's Dyno

Stock 03-04 VIII- 200-210hp
Stock 05 VIII - 215-220
Stock 06 IX - 230 - 235

A stock IX doesn't put out more then an EVO VIII w/ cams (EVO VIII w/ cams about 270-300).

 

when u get cams u usually get a tune. U get the point. A simple flash and a MBC yields 300 whp, add a tbe and its 330whp.

 

Sh*t I know that. But he was saying a stock IX is strong then a VIII with cams, which is just not true. You are right, on a IX, a simple flash (w/ or w/o the MBC) will yield 275-300 and w/ a TBE, bout 330. So a flashed IX is strong as a VIII with cams, but a stock IX is NOT.

Thanks all...I had to sign a contract with the wife! I KID YOU NOT! I had to tell her that I wasn't going to mod it for a while. The only thing I can get is window tint and an alarm!

No worries though, an exhaust, EMS, cams...All the hidden stuff can be done secret squirrel! There would be some days if I had a BIG purchase for my SRT-4, that I would have to covertly intercept the UPS guy!

Congrats on the purchase mate. I'm sure you'll enjoy the car. For well under 2k, you can have it at 330ish whp with matching tq.

 

No pictures yet because this weekend has been kind of hectic plus the weather has been eh...blah at best.

Thanks Monk...I am definitely looking into the 300-350awhp range with some stealth mods that the wife won't kill me over!

My 8 year old loves it and he loved the SRT with all the power....So I will get him involved with this one.

 

Cams are not bolt-ons. The guy said faster than VIIIs with bolt-ons, which is true to some degree, but not completely.

just to let you know there are no cams for the ix yet since we have mivec. the only cam you can change for now is the exhaust cam (don't think it's been done yet) but the intake can't be (for now). Congrats on the purchase, once you break her in and get to take her to 7 or more, it be alot of fun.

 

Kris - I remember you from SRTForums.com - I had a black srt-4 I sold as well a while back. Now, I sport a GG Evo IX MR like you. Two peas in a pod, I guess.

Yes, he did, and he's wrong. Even so, with exhaust, mbc, and tune, they can put out as much as or more than 05s with bolt-ons and cams, which is sickening.
