Talking Completely new to Cars in general

Hi all, I'm new to the whole car scene. I just really got my taste for driving cars and really wanted a car that turned heads. So I been talking with a few friends and looking at cars on the internet. The Lancer Evolution really caught my attention, but from what I can see from eBay and Autotrader, Evo's are pretty expensive. I thought it was pretty ironic that the car I really liked would be so expensive. Anywho... I dont know really anything about cars. I just had a few questions for the people here at these great forums.

Here's what I'm really interered in having:
A nice lookng 4-door car, and a engine thats between Crappy - Amazing. Not a super engine, but not crappy one.

1. How much did you pay for your Evo (not with the add-ons, just the car itself)
2. Whats the best place to get myself one, Im not really sure which model I wanted. Preferebly a good looking model and not to pricey. My price range is about 10k - 14k.
3. If Evo's are out of my range, then whats another good 4 door car that I can make look good, and have a decent engine.
4. What should I read or do to really learn about cars, and what are the most important things to know (Im working on learning all those terms in the other thread.)
5. In Atlanta Georgia, if anyone knows. What are some good customs/tuning shops here (if any)
6. If theres anything anyone could add that I should really learn/ or read up on please mention it

ps. i searched the forums for things like learning about cars for a person who knows nothings. sorry if i missed it and and double posting or w/e its called

ps. great forums, if anyone wants to talk or help me personally you can message me on Yahoo @ trust_tha_midas_touch << @ yahoo

You want a civic.

Get a bodykit, high metal spoiler, 20' "bling bling" rims, I/H/E and lower it so lucifer can hear you scratch his ceiling. Oh yeah, don't forget the vTEC stickers.

If you must have 4-door, then you're out of luck. Get a Sentra SE-R Spec V or something. That's a pretty good engine.

If you don't mind getting a coupe and would like to spend only 3-5k, then I'd suggest getting a turbo DSM (Talon/Eclipse/Laser). You could get one for very little, and those cars have the same engine as hte Evo. It is EXTREMELY EASY to modify and can be made VERY FAST for very little money. That's what I started with and is where I learned everything. Now, I rock out with my Evo and make it look easy.

Topspeed is a great shop in Atlanta that specializes in Evos (and probably DSMs, too).

Use the 10-14 for a down payment on a 2003 used Evo VIII... payments should not be that bad.

10-14k, you def cant get an evo for that. I agree with the getting a turbo eclipse (the GS-T, or even better the GSX--AWD) both of thoes are def in your price range. if you want a four door, you could go a little higher on your price spectrum and look for a higher millage 02 WRX, you might be able to find one in your range. the wrx is turbo and i recomend it, i drive one. there quick stock, and with a few mods they make decent power.
Also, on the higher end of you budget is the SRT-4, a four door turbo neon, thats ok too. ........i guess.

Nope, pretty bad engine. Don't want the famous "pre-cat failure, cyclinder failure or blown headgasket" etc. If your gonna buy a nissan, spend a little more and get a less of a problem 350z.

Midas, for 14-15k, I suggest a scion tC, mazda 3 or ralliart... all great cars.

... only if it's out the shop.

If by "circles" you mean "handling" than yes... it does. Overall thou, I wouldn't suggest the specV... it's old, depleted technology with a uninspiring chasis and engine. I would wait for the re-design 2007 sentra or look at the other 3 cars I mention.

It blows away those other 3 cars in straightline performance and handling. The 4g63 is old technology, and it does just fine. Btw, the Ralliart costs more, but does not perform as well as the Spec V.

i rather own a ralliart than a spec-v. I mean the spec-v it looks real BAD... i dont kno why ppl get the car, if u say 0oh because of the performance and handling, and dont care bout the exterior look of a car ( please dont talk bout cars again)

Also the Spec-V is doesnt totally blow the ralliart(175 hp spec-v and the ralliart 162) 13 hp wont BLOW sumthing away... its very minimal- i would say the same for handling.

I can't speak for the mazda or scion, but far as the ralliart goes... until you actually race one, don't go around saying things you have no knowledge about. As far as straight line goes... it's a driver race. Nissan is known to blow up the specV fly numbers since it's 2002 debut.

Also, don't mention QR25 and 4G63 in the same sentence, even as refrence, the QR25 is no where near "legendary engine" status. The only reason why the RA cost more is because the specV is on it's finally straw, the 2006 is the last year, so nissan is trying to move them out.
