Jesus, what the hell are parents doing these days? I knew plenty of kids in high school who were bought things ranging from modded civics to BMWs, and they all either crashed their cars, got close to crashing their cars or they got a huge ticket(s). If you want some real advice I would suggest sitting down and talking to your parents. Sure you can give em all this BS of how the Evo is a great car for beginners, hows its safe and reliable and blah blah blah but in the end it will only lead to problems. Think about insurance, do you really think its going to be cheap? Are you prepared to replace the clutch at least once while you learn how to drive? What about the damage that is bound to occur as a result of this to other areas of the car (transmission, suspension, god knows what else)? What's going to happen when your friends are in the car? Are you still going to be able to drive the limit? What about a girl? The sad fact is 15 year olds don't know their *** from a hole in the ground, at least thats how it was when I was 15. I thought my parents were stupid and all this crap but now that I'm older I know they had my best interests in mind. Best bet for a young driver such as yourself is to buy a mazda3, lancer, civic, something small and economical. You can still mod it and still be happy but 1.insurance won't rape you and 2. with less hp you should be less at risk for stupidity related accidents.

Wow you guys are all in the past. This is 2005 going on 06 guys. People are wealthy, for 99 percent of the families around where I live a 32k car is not much. Don't tell him not to get it because of his age. When i was 14 I learned stick shift so just because it might take some of you a while to learn it took me just a few minutes. I think an evo is a great car for anyone, just have to be responsible. Did he come on here and say, "I want an evo to street race my friends!" No he didn't, he just wanted some info. To answer your question yes 32k is enough. As long as he is mature and responsible than he should be fine. I know many people with high powered cars and are very good drivers, many 16. I know many people with beat up trucks who do burnouts and drive like morons. I think you should get to know him instead of saying, no don't get it.

In an evo its a bad idea, you have seasoned drivers blowing out clutches at 3000 miles, its not a car to learn on for many reasons. I don't care if he came on here saying he was using the car to drive orphan kids to church, the fact remains he's 15. There's a reason why insurance is so high for this age bracket and no its not a conspiracy. In case you forgot, this is the internet, as far as I know he could be a 300 lb 40 year old who lives in his mom's basement.

I think it is an excelent choice. Its a good, solid, safe car. for 32k you can def buy one , even new. I do think you should look at your options, and what you could get for 32k. try a 02-03 M3 maby, if your dad likes audi he might be more open to a similer german car. or...Supra....STi (wink wink).....Corvette......350Z/G35.........ect.
but befor you buy a sports car please learn to drive stick......well. as it was said befor the evo dose not appreaceate a bad drive. a friend of mine got an brand new evo and he learnd to drive stick on it he changed the cluch befor it got to 1000 miles. so be prepaird. Other than that you have excelent taste. good luck.

Ambystom01 you are stereotyping WAY too much. I just turned 17 today and after about 5 months of owning an evo, my car is still immaculate and I havn't gotten any tickets. Also, my friend has an s2000 and he treats it like it was God's gift to man. He also has never gotten a ticket.

I don't think its a good idea for a 15 yr old to own an EVO, just for his saftey and the saftey of others. If I had a kid and I was rich I will never buy my kid a sports car.

Do you want a damn medal? I'm 20, so I'm old enough to realize just how stupid I and those around me were but I'm not so old that I forgot what it's like to still be a kid. Kids today (and yes 15 is still a kid) are retarded, plain and simple. Some of the things that kids do today I would never have dared when I was their age. Parents today are far too lazy and far too reckless when it comes to raising their kids, and if I had my way, at least 60% of people would not be allowed to breed. For every one kid that gets no tickets and is responsible there are 100 more that are brain dead the instant they get with their friends. I've seen many young and naive punks come on this board claiming to be "responible" and "mature" only to either crash their car or get so damned close they're scared sh!tless and actually learn from it. A 32000$ car is not for kids, its that simple and that basic. Any parent who buys their kid a sports car deserves to be hit in the face with a shovel.

No, my evo is my medal every day. But anyway, you can't judge the kid over the internet. I mean, he has said like 4 lines of words, and you can't judge someone from that. Who knows, he might even end up paying for it by getting a job (which I think is the best way to go).

, but you do realize that is a pretty arrogant statement. Plus, what you are talking about is eugenics and it has been long since proven that there is no "dumb gene" to weed out from a population.
