Hood vent?

Both of my cars have huge vent holes in their hoods... One is for cooling, and the one on the other car is for cooling and downforce... both motors are still fine and have been rained on and washed while the motor is warm MANY times. Both motors still look great.
Water and rainwater isn't going to do a thing to the motor but make it dirty. Just clean it more often if it gets dirty. As long as the inside of the motor is clean, that's all that really counts for performance.

There has not been one reported case of anyone having a problem related to removing the louvered vent, but no one is twisting your arm. Do what you want...if it's going to bother you, don't do it.

I may not know the effects of rain on the engine bay however, I did decide to do a small test while at school with a piece of metal and a torch. We would heat it up, cool in water for about 10-15 cycles.making it glow red If we left it alone the metal would shows signs of quickened wear however if you do that then try to bend test it (bend the strip to over 90degrees the metal will snap. The metal inside actually turn very brittle (this was done on mild steel) but it had to be subjected to major stress for it to break. So in my honest opinion rain in normal conditions wouldn't hurt anything, now extreme conditions with sub freezing temp and mounds of snow... it might be a different story. Take it as you will

Seems like this thread is filled mostly with opinions and assumptions. Does anyone actually have the REAL answer? I've taken mine off numerous times. Looks better without it IMO.
