yes actually there is going to be a SPECIAL EVO just for you, Its going to be a shorter version, with a stop sign that comes out from the front when you stop, and it only comes in one color YELLOW with the word SPECIAL on the side. Just remember try not to lick the windows.
I think something is up but I I'm not sure what. Mitsu is backing dealers in the Southern California area (maybe elsewhere, too) by offering incredible prices for the Evo like $1000 below dealer invoice. Either a special version is coming soon or the X is coming out a whole lot sooner than anyone can imagine. It seems strange to have seen/pictured test mules on the Nurburgring in late 2005 and then wait two years (end of 2007?) before bringing the car to market. I know lead times are sometimes extensive, but c'mon. I mean GM is now bringing the new Camaro out now in 2008, instead of 2009 as had previously been estimated, due to real/perceived? demand. You really believe the X is not coming out until the latter part of 2007? (I realize they are NOT competitors and I'm just commenting on the LEAD TIME and that we have seen mules being tested already.) I'm sure Mitsu would like to have every Evo 9 purchased . . . . . and then spring the X. Look where sales of the C5 Corvette were right before they let loose the C6. They couldn't give them away. If they keep the real release date of the X a secret, don't you think it will be much easier to sell the 9?

I'm not questioning your honesty, just trying to nail down the info. Here in MI, it seems to be just the opposite. One of the Mitsu dealers here in town has an MR with an almost $2k "Market Value Adjustment" on top of MSRP.
I'm planning on buying my IX this summer before the X comes out. I'm hoping that Mitsu comes out with the 0% financing that they had on the VIII at the end of it's model run.
I read the X is scheduled to be released in 2007. Whether that's as a 2007.5 model or an early 2008, I'm not sure. What I do know is they're targeting the M3 and the interrior will be much more plush now to go with the performance. Finally, I heard the price is going to be more M3'ish as well... perhaps in the $40k range.
i'm not quite sure where u guys are getting the info that EVO X will be a 2008 model year and thus a 2007 Release. According to the blurb in Motor Trend (current issue) it says that EVO X is slated to release by the end of this year. i could be wrong but i'm going with what i read.

I don't think that GM is a good model to emulate. If anything, they'll just suprise the crap out of everybody and it'll show up at a car show as a production model, or maybe just an all out media blitz when you least expect it. As long as it comes out before the Skyline, we can get all the hype.

MT is wrong on this one I think. Corporate UK site lists it as Mid 2007, the Slide at the Chicago show said Lancer Evolution X Concept 2008. So at best mid 2007 as a 2008 MY.
