I am wanting to buy some wheels/tires from a member of these forums and I was wondering what everyone suggests as the best way to work the deal. He doesn't have a paypal account so he can't do that so I just wanted to know the other options that there are and how we can both be sure we get a fair exchange?

So the normal procedure would be what? I send the money order and then he cashes it and then he sends the package? Not that I am trusting integrity but what's to say that he won't just cash the check and I'll never get my package?

 

Send him a check and freeze it, after he sends the wheels to you unfreeze it=D

 

Yes, be very careful when dealilng with certain people. Paypal is the safest way because they will help you in disputes if something goes wrong. Just make sure he has been a membor for a long time and he has lots of positive feedback.

 

check the sellers rating.. check some of the posts he has made.. gives you a good judge of character..

 

Tell us the user id, somebody here might know him on a personal basis and tell you if he's trust worthy or not.

 

Paypal ONLY....Or meet him....Anyone who's 18 can get a paypal account. Any excuse he gives for not having one is a load of garbage. Use paypal or dont buy.

Money order is about the dumbest method in the history of online buying. You might as well send him an envelop full of cash. Tell him to get a paypal account, seriously, it takes 5 minutes to set up and costs nothing.

UPS COD then. he sends the rims, you inspect them when the ups driver arrives, if u like hand over a money order to the UPS guy, UPS then sends the MO to him. if u dont like the rims, u can deny the package.
and btw, NEVER make ANY paypal payment without it coming from your credit card. NEVER send from ur paypal balance and NEVER send from your checking account. paypal is NEVER on your side, only your credit card company is.

yeah right send a check and freeze, yeah right then you can keep the product and not unfreeze it...
money orders work nice, paypal (sometimes even tho their services suck) - there is western union is an option, check (Wait till it clears then ship) - COD works on smaller things, escrow even tho hassle, ebay set up

either way there is always a chance you can get ripped on any of them...
if the email are short and to the point then might not be a good chance but you never know
