New evo 9 owner!

Hello everyone, Just wanted to intoduce myself, Was a previous owner of a 04 STI, great car, but wanted to try something new. I picked up a 06 Black on Black. So far its great, much different then driving the STI, which is not bad at all. Thought i would drop a line and say hi!

Congrads on your new IX. I said the same thing about modding my car. I have had my IX for 4 months and I already have a TBE,MBC, Intake and I am getting flashed on wednesday. Resist the urge. But once you get started you wont stop. G-luck

A flash gets a lot more HP then just a TBE, and is cheaper.

Get a flash 1st.

Congrats!

Congrats on the purchase and welcome. Most dealerships aren't very mod friendly. When you do mod, just remember the Magneson-Moss Act. They have to prove by law that the mod caused damage to the defective part. Good luck. If you plan on modding it, I suggest never bringing it to the dealership. I just finished fighting Mitsubishi to replace my starter at 21K miles. They said the starter went out due to my Xede piggyback. After fighting them and proving that the Xede did not cause the damage, I was refunded.

Thanks everyone, I want to start modding of course, just wanna not cause problems, I am missing the TQ that my STI was putting down. I am sure it is not hard to get for the IX. Just money For the reflash, which sounds very cool, is there anyway the dealer can detect this? I am sure there is.

I have been doing searches, did not find much info on drop springs? I have read that the Swift springs are good, I see pics of the 06 IX MRs being dropped on these, which look great! Will they will work for my 06 SSL package correct? not just for the MR, will they destroy my struts? I would like to do this, If I was to have the dealer install, I know, i know, gonna get flamed for having the dealer do something aftermarket, but if they install, would they still keep to their word on the warranty? I had asked them about that, they seemed to have no problem with doing some minor things like TBE.

Excuse my not so good knowledge on this car, that is why i am here, to learn about her. Cannot wait to break her in, only have 160 miles so far.

thanks again, J

For the Flash, there seems to be a few different options, I mean by brand I believe, any suggestions on that route? is it a self install like the Cobb AP setup I had on the ol' STI?

I have found Vishnu?ecutek, and TurboXS, what is the best as far as reliability, HP, etc??

thanks again, J

Most people use coilovers.

Janimation, where did you see the pictures of the IX MR w/ drop springs. I'm looking to drop my IX MR. It's your choice, the TBE gets the mean sound, the flash gets more power for the buck. Check buschur for the package of both.

if you have the extra money and plan to track the car, get coilovers. if not, i'd just get springs IMO.

You're STI must not have been stock if you miss the torque. IX's are putting down 27Xwtq bone stock.

Hey guys,

I sawa 06 mr i believe on this site, cannot remember where though sorry...

The car is my daily driver, so no track car for now. I would like to just get a little less wheel gap, thinking springs would be a good alternative? Just dont wanna mess up the struts, etc... Any suggestions on springs for the IX? The Bushur packages look awesome! gonna have to look into that.

Oh, my STI was not stock, had some few light mods, but with the dyno-tune it was putting down 340ish to the wheels on the torque side. The IX will be there eventually, I am really liking it so far, just gotta get some miles on it to break her in!!! cannot wait!
