Does direct the wind to the spoiler, but I don't know if it actually works. I've notice that the front of the wing gets really dirty lately ever since I've installed the vortex generator. Just a little tid bit for you guys.

 

That's the price you pay for an extra 80 lbs. of downforce at 100 mph!

I really do not care about the down force...I just like the way it looks! It really seems to set my evo off. That is why I put one on.

uh i dont think so, from what i remember motor trend did a little write up on it and it was only a little bit effective however it did show how it directs the wind in a more efficient way to the spoiler for more effect, but 80pnds??? i dont think so

 

80 lbs. is definitely wrong. The factory spoiler produces 90 lbs. of downforce and the vortex generator is supposed to add another 10 lbs. when combined with the wing.

 

^^^ I'm pretty sure the 10 lbs is including the little wicker lip they put on the rear edge of the spoiler as well. Which also costs a pretty penny.

 

I personally add 245 lbs of downforce myself naturally

The Evo is not in downforce. The downforce created by parts like the wing only decrease the lift.

In concept the vortex generator adds energy to the flow allowing the air to make the turn down the backlight "better" getting better flow to the wing.
