Hey it is the newb forum right?

How does the IX stack up against the audi S4 and VW R32? (stock for stock, I mean)?

Thx

A stock IX is way better then an R32 and the old TT S4 in turns of handling and speed. A new S4 is slower then a IX, but the blue and blue recaro interior is a work of art in that car. If you stick with a German car, it is a lot more liveable for every day driving and is safer in an accident. I have driven all of these cars and that's my 2 cents.

The Volvo S60R is nice too. The Mazda Speed 6 is slow.

so, how unsafe are our cars in an accident? hard to quantify something like that, but are they the leading killers of crash victims?

Are you comparing them in terms of performance or ownership/driving experiance? I like the idea of the S4, medium sized sedan with a honking V8 and awd....but when you drive it it's not too exciting to drive. It has a strange clutch travel, steering is numb and you can feel all the weight when bombing along on twisties and hills. -MR

yeah the OP needs to be more specific. the Evo is the best car for the price no doubt. so if money's an issue for u, the Evo is ur winner.

however if u want a car with an interior that matches its price tag and has lexus ride quality, m3/r32/s4 are probably better cars for u.

the Evo is, imho, a very exclusive car made for an exclusive group of people who put pure performance as their top priority.

I base my purchase on two things, PERFORMANCE and looks. Comfort not so much, and looks are pretty subjective, I own an evo, its kind of the butterface of sweet cars so looks aren't everything to me.

But performance wise, I would rather have the IX over those two any day, look at the Ix's response to mods, handling ability stock, then handling ability with just new bushings, its just too much of a potential *** buster to place below any of those.

Research national highway institute and look up the different cars crash results. German cars are heavier because of the extra airbags and sound deadening material. I am not suggesting that an Evo is unsafe... just not as safe as a german car made for autobahn speeds.

The thing that really turned me off about the s4 was the 14mpg (if you're lucky). The car moved well for 3900lbs though.

Oh.. here's the old video..
