Making the switch from muscle to evo
As a former muscle car owner i've recently got the bug for performance again. I had a 71 original 426 c.i. HEMI Roadrunner and a 70 Dodge Dart 340 with a WING. Both cars had might big power, but the smaller Dart 340 was always much more fun to drive.
I haven't bought the Evo yet, but i'm sure looking forward to a car that goes fast, handles great and can actually STOP.
I would hope that most all of you are responsible drivers. But as a reminder to all, yesterday here in Denver there were some irresponsible kids street racing. One of the cars flipped and a young girl riding as a passenger was killed. Just a reminder for all to be responsible and SAFE.
Peace

I agree, street racing is hard to avoid in an Evo. EVERYONE wants to race you. I'm fundamentally against street racing, besides the occasional BMW spaking on the freeway, of course...
That's why there's dragstrips and road courses. I can't tell you how many KIDS I see driving an Evo, and how frequently I hear about one being totalled. It's sad.To anyone is thinking about bying an Evo, check your ego at the door 'cause it'll be the end of you, someone else, or at the very least, your car. Responsibility is key.
Okay.. I'm the poster child for going from a muscle car to an Evo..
I had a 70 Dodge Dart 340
76 Dart Sport, 75 Duster (both 360's)
2 Monte Carlos (75 and 78)
2 Corvettes (78 and 91)
81 Pontiac Grand prix with a 454
87 Buick Grand National (Duttweiler built engine and giant turbo)
I also had a few RX7's and other cars..
I currently have a 78 Malibu, Supercharged producing over 600hp, and a Datsun 210 Hatchback (which is currently in the process of getting an engine swap, GUESS what kind?), an 92 Honda Civic Hatch (not running) a Saturn (daily driver) and My evo..
Out of all of these cars, GUESS which one I like driving the best? The Evo.. The Malibu SAT IN A GARAGE for a year at one point, and I've been spending most of my extra cash on working on the Evo.. I was a hardcore musclecar guy, but I found the Evo to be as close to a modern day translation of what a muscle car would and should be.

^ haha that's awesome...
I think the true modern day by-the-book "musclecars" are the more modern GTO, Mustang, Camaro, etc. They don't necessarily rely on high technology to plant the power to the ground, they're more about big displacement power...
However, since that sort of technology and methodology has been far surpassed, newer forced induction awd rally-bred heroes are the more up-to-date definition of a musclecar, like MalibuJack said.. Just like the days of old, the new age musclecars take existing technology and push it to higher limits. Except now they do everything well, just like the exotic supercars, but they can still take you on a weekend trip with all your wife's luggage or take little baby Joanne and Bobby to the daycare in their car seats. They're really in a class all their own and it's pissing a lot of people off. lol
