Humor me: Which would you go with?
This is more of a personal (opinion) thread than anything. Feel free to use technical information to back your opinion, of course.
Basically, it's like this: GSR or MR?
Cost isn't an issue...it's more, what do I need? If my car is going to be a DAILY DRIVER, do I REALLY need all the extras of the MR? I've read a TON about the differences between the cars...and I know I don't want to get an MR just to say "I have an MR." I'm more interested in getting an Evo, period. Whether that be a GSR or MR, I'm just not sure.
If it were up to you, which would you get and why? If you're one who'd want an MR simply because it's an MR, please don't reply. I'd like some intelligent and outlined opinions, if possible...because at this point in time, I'm unable to pick between the two..and I think if I had the perspective of others, it might help me realize which I really want.
Thanks!

get a gsr put a coil over kit and some nice volks....and you have a better looking handling car for less....i was going to get an mr til i found out in 6th at highway speeds its only a 200ish rpm difference...
cheers..
cheers..
I chose a GSR because someone informed me that the gears in MR are smaller and break easier with heavenly modified evos. Also they dont' make a tilton clutch for MR so thats why I chose a gsr
lol .... I bought this car to be drag racing oriented so shifting into 5th towards the end of the 1/4 doesn't apeal to me...

I got the GSR purely on the fact that it came in black as well...
Since I added the votex generator, everyone thinks I have a black MR
Go for the GSR, its a little more comfortable, a little more daily driver friendly, and leaves a few $$$ for mods!

theres no tilton for the MR? i'm sorry but that doesnt pass my common sense test...
also there definately hasnt been any more failures to the MR tranny than the 5 speed.
the MR suspension is much more suited to Daily Driving.
I wanted brake ducts, aero kit, and HIDs, so it only made sense for me to go with the MR, but everyone is different.

How many threads on this now? LOL,
Well, I wanted factory HIDs, so there's a plus for the MR (or SSL). The six speed is said to have better feel and action (teflon cables). The MR Bilstiens are said to offer a better ride for a daily driver, while handling at least as well (GSR is stiff and doesn't recover from bumps as well - not a problem if you're modding the suspension). MR has a rudimentary set of gauges - again, not an issue if you're modding those.
So, MR if you're staying mostly stock and want factory HIDs. (SSL is also an option if you want leather and sunroof too!)

Mostly little things that do not make a significant difference...for me it wasn't worth the 5-6k premium.
If money was no object however, I would've got the MR.
I bought the MR because I don't intend to mod it and wanted the better damping from the Bilsteins and the better gear ratios. I have found that 5th gear on my MR is great for city driving, and 6th is great for cruising on the highway. The BBS wheels are pretty sweet too. The zero lift kit is not such a big deal for me. How many people are really going to take advantage of it?
If you're planning on switching out wheels and dampers, probably not much point in getting an MR unless you really want that 6-speed tranny.
