Can someone explain all the Evo differences?

For instance, the difference between '03, '04, '05 and '06 models? What's a 'GSR' for instance?

If you were going to buy a used Evo, is it worthwhile to pick up an '05 vs an '03, all else being the same (condition and mileage)?

Is the MR worth the price premium?

I usually can't keep my hands off cars, so I'm sure I'd mod the Evo. Which year gives the best results for the least investment? Probably just start with bolt ons, reflash, exhaust, intake...

Tried to search, didn't work...

Can someone sticky the following questions?

1. What are the first mods for my car?

2. What clutch is best for my car?

3. What type of BOV do I need?

4. General Questions with general answers.

Can someone answer these questions for all the newbies, and post them somewhere?

I say if the newbies dont read these first, they are DELETED. Nothing personal, I just think these clog up the comode!

OK, I seriously tried to search and got a error from the site. Not sure why, but it happened. Why the heck would I lie about something so trivial?

Hey Doc, quick answer to your question is that it's just like Porsches - buy the newest one you can afford. They don't call them "evolutions" for nothing . The '06's especially are taking very well to simple mods (big difference here is the turbo and MIVEC).

A GSR is the base model Evo here - the three models are the GSR, RS and MR (although you won't see GSR in any official USDM Mitsu pubs).

The MR is worth it if you want 6spd, VG, and the Bilstein shocks. Pretty sure those are the only differences. You sound like you'd probably be fine with a GSR or even RS.

This forum has a few "Is the MR worth it" threads if you look a little bit down the list. Mileage isn't noticeable between the years. It's all relative to how much your right foot weighs.

As far as bang for buck.. the initial mods on a IX yield higher numbers than on the VIII.

Holy $hit he's been here since Aug 2001 - longer than any other postes so far - gasp!!

Surely you've seen at least 3 threads a day people start asking this same crap...?

Anyway, get the IX, and get the MR if you can.
