stock boost should be around 21.5 psi.

Location is a factor and 21.5 sounds a little high to me like a psi off (20.5). Also, this is peak boost, as the ECU tapers it off near redline.

20.3psi at 3500rpm
17.xpsi at 6500rpm

This is common knowledge and has been stated countless times on this board. Please learn to search.

Follow up question - is it the same boost pressure in every gear?

I know in the WRX it was 8/9 PSI for first and second gear, then 14.5 for third, fourth and fifth.

Whats the maximum PSI the turbo can produce safely w/out exploding all over hell and gone?

Cheers.

Great stuff ^^^^

However, it unfortunately doesnt answer how much the turbo can put out safely w/out blowing itself to bits.

Any thoughts?

It's probally around 22-23psi because after that point, the turbo loses efficiency, so what's the point of pushing it further? Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

24 psi is the max that i have heard running. It is not recommended as it is set from the factory at it's peak, just like the fuel pump and injectors are almost at 100% of their cycle. You should not mess with the boost whatsoever with a mbc or ebc, unless of course you replace the stock exhaust, fmic, uic, lic, etc and the boost level has dropped. That is the only time.

It's not that it loses efficiency, it's putting more stress on the turbo itself, not to mention the stock parts, etc.

The adding more boost, means you need to re tune, add more fuel, air, etc. I am sure warrtalon will chime in and give his advice and view on this as well.

All the information can be found by searching, as i am still a "newbie" here as well, but have some common sense about the car.

EDIT:
also, since you have a new car, say goodbye to the warranty if you do any of the above.

Stock boost on a IX (according to the brochure) is 20.21 @ 3500rpm WOT tapering to 16.62 @6500 WOT.

Hope this helps

Evo9Kid,

Yeah, you heard a lot of stupid feedback from people full of crack. Read what Warrtalon said above because that is what it is. I confirm Warrtalon remarks.

Also it depends on altitude and temperature. I get a couple of pounds of boost extra in the winter here in Tucson.

Around 22-23 PSI is the Max On pump. But I would suggest you do BPU first.

22-23psi is not max, nor is 24. You can run unlimited boost on the turbo with the wastegate pinched, and it won't blow up. The proper question to ask is how much boost can you run on a certain octane. With race gas and/or alky, you can run pretty much max boost, which comes out to 27-30psi depending on the car.
