Getting an Evo IX MR....

Hello,
I just got a rough idea on how much the evo is going to cost me and the numbers look good. I'm going to pick one up next week.

I decided on the evo ix mr. I just had a a few questions to ask. I'm looking into modifying the car and I was wondering what are the must haves when it comes to mods?
Also, as far as exhaust what exhaust system would you guys recommend me? I'm just looking for something that gains a good amount of power with out being freaking loud. I'm also looking into getting an cai but i'm pretty much clueless on what to buy.
Also, if I want to put down some serious power on the car what else would you guys recommend?

My friend is talking about if I get an evo he's going to enjoy killing me with his 06 Sti. Which are really nice cars but, the interior and front body is horrible.
Thanks,
Gilbert

Everyone is going to tell you to search. For the exhaust get a turbo back, if you're worried about modfying the cat like I am, get a 3 inch DP and a 3 inch catback. There are many to choose from from varying styles and sound. Its really up to you what you want. Don't get an intake, its a waste of money and doesn't add much except for sound. Also, there are many filters that don't seem to filter dust/dirt well. Just stick with the stock intake box, it works well. If you want really big gains, theres of course the turbo kits, but IX's make lots and lots of power with bolt ons + tuned ECU/piggyback. You can get 330whp with bolt ons and tune.

If you search you'll find answers to most if not all your questions. Good luck!

Once you've done what that says, then I'll be happy to help you. Your basic questions have been answered more times than I can count.

As for your buddy with an 06 STi, don't say anything to him about what I tell you. Your IX in stock form will already make about 20-30whp more than that STi. Then, with only BASIC BASIC BASIC mods (such as the ones in my IX package), you will be faster than he can ever go without a turbo upgrade. You only have to spend $1270 to get to this point, which is capable of 12-flat on pump gas. Keep that nugget of info in your back pocket, then unleash it on him at the track.

Use the Advanced Search and constantly narrow down/tweak the search parameters.

Don't do the CAI! Just a flash + TBE. Hope you're getting the car for dealer invoice by the way. And fwiw, my friend's STi with a piggyback and TBE ran 13.6 @99mph in palmdale as his best run. He's even a decent driver. I'm out in your area a lot because of my gf. So maybe I'll see a new MR there.

MR is a waste of money. The japanese Evo's don't even come in MR, they don't have the Zero Lift package(which is a huge gimmick). You're just wasting your money on the MR. The ONLY option I can see you wanting, is the 6-speed, which is actually slower in the 1/4 mile.

Well, I got the price of 32,999 which was offered as a special price at the forum.
Funny thing is that some sales man at the dealership was trying to sell me the car for $39,999 I gave him are you ****ing retarded look.

It appears you don't know what you're talking about. First of all, there isn't a Japanese MR, but they have all the MR features as options - we don't. Next, the Zero Lift Kit is only $270 - big deal. Lastly, since when is the 6-spd SLOWER in the 1/4-mile. It's exactly the same as the IX 5spd through the first 4 gears, which are the gears you use on the drag strip. Guess you didn't know that?

Today is the day that I go to the dealer and if everything works out i'm going to be driving in a evo.
What are the break-in procedures on the evo?
