depends on what you want, you want performance, go with the evo, luxury, go with the is300

both are good cars... just different worlds.

i've been in the is300, awesome car, well made, just doesn't have the performance of the evo.

on the other hand, evo is awesome performance wise, but a tad bit lacking on the luxury side, but i can over look all that ish when i drive a bit spirited..

good luck on your decision.

Both cars have the same exact miles and around the same price, the IS also has 280hp.

First, put on a flame suit because there are going to be half a dozen guys juming all over you for no reason.

First off....reliability, luxury, mild performance, RWD (hap hazard for all around use) Lexus

Or performance, knife edged handling, rough riding yet one of the fastest cars on the road, especially when modded properly. the Evo.

I will say, when I was 18 I got my license and had zero respect for the road. I could give a damn about anything except keeping my foot to the floor and keeping attention on me.

Im not trying to be a buzzkill....Im just being honest. Everyday I get into my car and remember the little prayer reminder in my visor of a friend who died showing off...

If I may make an honest suggestion....I would get something like the Lexus. Its nice, a bit more impractical for all season use, however, it is a nice car that performs well but isnt going to be dangerous.

An Evo will basically get you into pissing contests constantly especially at your age. Im 8 years your senior and while Im still young, Im older than the "ricer" punks in my area and I STILL have to turn down street racers who do nothing but give me grief.

The lexus is more sedate....if this is your first car, get the Lexus, put rims on it, get a nice stereo and do little mods. If you want more performance in a year or two, then get an Evo.

I just say this because I care about people on the road and who gets into the sport. Without caution, we have young guys making bad names for the cars....the Y2K hot rod crowd AKA ricers cause much grief for older, legit gearheads.

Think about this....an SRT-4 is still a potent vehicle....while it is...ugh...a Neon....I would say, without a doubt that car is serious. Few mods and it'll run pretty dang fast. However, after driving several I have found that pushing that car to the edge is a bit scarier than an Evo and much less confidence inspiring.

If you want an Evo, get it. But be safe and smart with it, and stick with us on the forums, look, read, learn.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

I believe the IS is turbo and it has a full exhaust, and an intercooler.

Like stated above, go with Evo for performance, go with Lexus for luxury. Even though horsepower is the same - the Evo is much more performance orientated and will drive like it - tight quick steering - rougher ride. The Lexus with that power will still drive like a Lexus.

well, i'd still go with the evo... it was designed to have a turbo, ie - less chance of a problem.

either way, you can't really make a bad decision. both are good cars.

I think that, honestly, you should get the Evo. The IS300 wasn't turbo stock, so you are more likely to run into problems; however, the Evo is turbo stock and you have less chance of major problems unless you start messing with stuff. Just be safe with the Evo, and everything will be good!
