SRTForums Mod checking in
A lot of good guys over there. I appreciate that silver.
STI, I'm in the Tampa area, but my folks live in Margate so a S. FL dealership would be a good option.
Panges, I thought about doing that with West Coast's ad. Thanks for the heads-up on South Coast.

Ralph, I had a feeling you were from there when I saw your name. A few guys had traded up recently. Must be something in the water.
Welcome to the board. I used to post a lot on SRTforums, mostly when I was strongly considering an SRT-4. However, I had some friends who talked me out of it (you know the arguments), and I ended up being able to financially handle an Evo, plus the dealership offering the insanely good prices is less than five miles away from where I live. It was a no-brainer.
The Evo IX RS will probably be a good choice for you. Coming from an SRT-4, you shouldn't really be inconvenienced by the roll-up windows and lack of cruise control (since both are downsides of the SRT-4, and obviously they don't really bother you too much). With the price difference between the IX RS and the IX, you can spend that on a pretty decent audio system, gas, and your first several oil changes. I have a IX, and I find myself shutting the audio system off a lot when I have fun. The RS also has quite a sleeper look (due to the lack of a wing) while maintaining a lot of the sharp visual characteristics of an Evo--the menacing front end, huge front-mount intercooler, the fender bulges, and the smoked headlights and taillights. Keep us updated with what your choice ends up being.

I remember you Deeez. And you made a good case for the RS.
Every performance car I've owned I've tried to reduce it's weight. Mitsubishi would be saving me a lot of time, energy, and money if I went with the RS. I'm not big on audio systems, so a basic (small amp/no sub) system will do fine. It will help make up for the absence of sound deadening.
The only drawback is the lacking ABS. If possible, I would like to add the system from a salvaged Evo.

I used to be a frequent poster on SRTForums in 2003 just before the SRT-4 was widely available in the northeast, ended up getting an Evo instead..
Welcome aboard, you won't regret the change.
I like the RS, but I don't know if I could give up some of the stuff that my GSR Has..

And I believe the weight saving of an RS is around 100lbs?

It's a bit annoying that my 03 has a gimmick like the intercooler sprayer but not a basic car feature like a cruise control

I was under the assumption that the other models had it. But that wasn't due to Deeez's post alone, I read this quote from an article on the RS on Automotive.com:
"A pleasant discovery is the price you pay in comfort. The Evo does thump along like a skateboard, sometimes exaggerating the impacts with a loud KRONG from the suspension. Rocks and pebbles constantly shower the underbody of the car, and the tires don't know when to shut up. Plus, no cruise control! But honestly, all aspects of pain were within tolerance levels. Even driving an Evo for a couple hours probably won't hurt anything too badly."
Except the pride of anyone who tries to race you.

I don't really see what all the complaints are about, from a real driver's standpoint (althogh I kind of do, since a lot of publications cater toward the average driver). Yes, it's a bit rougher all-around than your average car, but it's FAR from unbearable. Before my Evo, I drove a Mercedes E320 for a year, which was mostly about comfort and luxury, and the Evo's "harsh" qualities (ride, noise, etc.) never really bothered me. And coming from an SRT-4, these things shouldn't be a big deal for you at all.

Get your hands on an Electric blue if you can, it looks sick in the IX's
