I'm lost and need help

OK so I've been searching for an hour now and I cant find the answer. I wanted to know why it's so difficult for the GSR Version of the EVO 9 to get HID's like the SSL.
I asked the dealers and they all said it'll take about 2 grand to do yet I'm seeing everyone buy aftermarket HID for their non SSL Evo's. Am I missing something here?

Can I just get a normal Evo 9 and then get aftermarket HID's or am I screwed?
I have done HID to other cars without a problem, I just dont understand why it would take 2 grand to do so on a Evo?

Please help

That's what I'm saying, so what's with the dealers saying it'll cost over 2 grand to do?
for 350 i can get the best of the best ones from people/vendors on this forum

I dont realyl need the SSL, I only want the HID so if i can get it on the regular evo then f the SSL, waste of money for me since I dont need the rest of teh stuff

I did some research on this issue because I was going to buy a wrecked 05 Evo non-SSL and since the front headlights were trashed I was going to upgrade to the HID headlights. Anyways to do it like the factory I was going to have to get: the front headlights, ballasts, bulbs, front wire harness including fuse box, wire harness behind dash, and level switch. Obviously not worth money or work - unless you can find everything used. There is a write-up on using factory equipment and creating your own relay system to operate them - I just wanted a straight forward install. So, I checked into just puting in one of these aftermarket HID kits that come with ballast and bulb - seems everyone that has done it is quite happy with them - although research the brand before you buy.

Cool, that is great info Solngv8. But why is the factory one so complecated (Spell Check)? I mean I thought it would be simple plug and play from factory but it's like a load more work, Wierd man.
