Just wanted to say hello!

Hey guys and girls,

My name is Steve, I am 19 going on 20 in September, and I just signed up with this awesome little forum here yesterday, and wanted to introduce myself to everyone!

A little background on me-(Not that anyone probably cares lol): I currently am driving an '05 Nissan Sentra Se-r Spec V-(Fully Bolted), but my hope is sometime in September (Maybe August) to sell the Spec V, and step it on up to an EVO XII or IX-(Wicked White or Graphite Gray Pearl!) I figured I would sign up here first to learn about the car, and be able to get a full idea about everything before my big purchase.

I currently work at a performance shop called 9 Second Racing in Denver, CO, and fell in love with the car after my stent there! Such a great platform, with so many possibilities, plus you cannot beat the AWD! I recently have a made a decision though to move back to Atlanta GA (I grew up out there) sometime in late June, early July, and hope to buy my EVO once I get settled in there.

I look forward to getting to know everyone, and learning about these beautiful, powerhouse automobiles!

I apologize on the length of this message, I tend to ramble on much longer than necessary! Thanks for your time guys and take care!

Sincerely,
Steve

Thanks 12 Monkeys!

I imagine they are fairly difficult to find, esepcially in my color choice...I have been doing some research and I think I will be lucky to find a nice-used one (esepcially a IX) for under 29K.

The initial plan is to buy a lightly used one from a dealership, and put all the money from my Spec V (about 15k) down towards the EVO, which I am hoping in turn will secure lower monthly payments...but than again, that might be wishful thinking!

well you shouldnt have a problem getting your payments where you need them...keep your eye open on the boards too, there are occasional deals on here where you can get yourself into a nice evo...

Welcome to the boards. Your best bet will be to find a used VIII over a used IX since they're still quite new and probably hard to find used, especially in your area (when compared to Southern California, where people change their cars more frequently). Obviously read up as often as you can, and before you have questions try to SEARCH first, since 95% of all questions have already been asked and answered several times. Good luck!

Welcome to the site! I just joined myself after getting my Evo 4 days ago, as you can see my newbie thread as well a few above yours. Just keep your eyes open and one will come along just as it did for me.

Thanks so much guys! Yeah, dont worry, the search feature I have already put to use, luckily I hail from one of the biggest search-**** boards on the web, TheVboard.com! They will eat you alive there if you do not search...literally haha

That is awesome to hear Evolution8MR, ideally, I would love to have an MR, but I figured realistically an XIII or a IX would fit my budget better. And I am going to take your advice, and not jump on the first one that comes my way-(as hard as that is going to be!)

It is nice to see there are a lot of nice members here, I know a lot of boards have a problem with that anymore! Thanks for all the input guys!

Welcome.

I used to drive/own a Molton Silver - Brembo 2004 SpecV, bolted except cams.

If you have driven an Evolution, you might have noticed that night and day difference.

Where the SpecV has major low down torque, The Evo gets happy
in the higher RPM range.

Where the SpecV handles well, the Evo handles like it's on rails.

EDIT: Don't worry about the search ****'s.

I used to hang out on b15sentra.net , so I know about search ****'s.
The V-Board is worse.

Haha! Man, I really need to start proofreading lol! Excuse my ignorance! I obviously meant VIII!

Spec'd that is great to hear that you are happy with the switch. Going from an NA, FWD to FI, AWD is like you said night and day, and I am glad you are happy you made the switch. It is also good to hear a former Spec V owner say the EVO handles like it is on rails, because Spec V's definitly have a decent amount of handling capability for the money! And yes, I would gladly trade low end torque for a screaming top end! QR25 is essentially a truck motor, so I will be happy to ditch it and move on the a beautiful 4G63!

EvoIXnoob it is nice to hear 30K OTD, that I could def. live with!

I have at this point concluded I am getting a IX, unless I find a great deal on an VIII. From my searching and reading already on this forum, it sounds like the IX responds better to mods, and has more tuning capabilites as well. Not to mention, a slightly revamp look-(I believe?). Either way, I would be extremely happy to own either one!

Thanks again for all your input everybody, it is nice to be a part of a forum with nice people!

Hey SpecSteve ,

Eventhough I'm happy with my 05 VIII, Try to pick yourself up a 06 IX.

Huntington Beach Mitsubishi is another good dealer inaddition
to South Coast Mitsubishi.

Yeah, I think that is some good advice Spec'd, from everything I keep reading, it appears the IX has a little more to offer, which is surprising to me because originally I thought the only difference was slightly aesthetic!

Either way, as soon as I hit Atlanta, I am selling the Spec V and walking in the local dealership with a cashier's check and an agenda lol.
