Can the front stock IX lip be re-painted and then repalaced?

Yesterday i swerved to miss a kid who came out of nowhere in my neighborhood while in a turn and ended up clipping a curb, damaging the front lower lip of my new IX as well as curbing the wheel. the bumper is fine but the lip is prety haggered and hanging off where there were two clips that originally attached it. The clips don't look removable, more like rivits. Can this part be removed, (or re-purchased new) painted, and re-clipped on? Or is this a job for good o'l JB-Weld?

The wheel itself is pretty trashed along with outer far edge, and my allignment is a little off. So it gives me an excuse to blow the cash and get a set of 18" Volk TE37's at cost.

Any ideas on my situation? I may get a whole new aftermarket lip if this is going to be too much of an issue though.

Of course you can. See if Adam at Z1Auto can get the factory parts....just the same, as long as you're blowing extra cash...buy a ralliart lip kit and install that.

AS long as the stock front bumper isnt bashed in, it should be a pretty easy install.

well after a little work, i managed to get the lip pretty much back on but it still needs paint. I think i'm just going to aftermarket like a ralliart one.

Nice buddy. I was doing 20mph and the kid came flying out between two houses straight into the street. So before you make stupid comments, please know the facts. Most drivers would have hit the kid. Probably yourself included.

Sounds like 20 mph was still too fast for the conditions in your neighborhood. Just because the limit is 25 mph doesn't mean you should always drive that fast.

Come on now, man. Seriously, it's really easy for you to sit there and make comments about a situation you are hundreds miles away from. You weren't there, why speculate out your ***? I'm sure you mean well, but you posting stuff like this isn't really helping anything.

He crashed because a kid darted out in front of him in his neighborhood. It's his neighborhood. He knows there are kids in the area. So slow down and don't wreck the car. Consider it a public service announcement.

Once again, i was under the speed limit, the kid was doing like 20mph on his bike and came flying out between two houses at top speed. There was NO way to avoid either hitting him, a curb, or a parked car.

So get over it. He would have hit the side of my car BTW. not the front.

Another typical forum jockey. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Do you even know WHEN this happened? Time of night? How about a gap between two houses in about 8' wide where he flew out of, across three feet of sidewalk, between two parked cars, and then into the street. No light, no reflectors, and dark clothes.

Get over it dude. You're a tool and i'll guarantee you would have hit the kid or a parked car. I'm a schooled driver, i get professional instruciton all the time by a NASA instructor as well as two friends who are former Bulgarian National Ralley Champions. Don't even try to lecture me on driving.

I'm done with you. Get a life.

As a matter of fact, I DO know what I'm talking about. CA is a pure comparative state. If you had hit the kid, you would've been liable. Just because you weren't going the speed limit doesn't mean you weren't going too fast for the conditions in your neighborhood.

I do applaud you, however, for your superhuman driving capabilities. Too bad your pro instructor didn't teach you how NOT to hit curbs.

Wow, that's a bit extensive. It sounds like his car took the damage for the ignorance of a child. I don't see that he did anything wrong... besides damaging his car.

Parents should be fined when crap like this happens. We have a bunch of little kids that love to run into the street in our community and fly up and down our culdesac. I almost backed into one once cause he chose to fly by on his bike as close to my car as possible. So I think I can completely understand where this guy is coming from cause it's really frustrating. I get pissed that they are coming so close to my $35k+ car with zero respect for their safety or anyone else's!!

And trying to yell at the parents didn't get me anywhere. They still do it!! My fiance` and a few other people called the cops. Didn't stop then either!!

I don't know about your neighborhood AndrewLB, but I know in mine almost everyone I've talked to almost hits these kids on a weekly basis. AND our HOA is too busy *****ing about the color of our rocks out front instead of taking care of problems like this that's going to end up getting one of these kids hurt one of these days!!

End rant....

The guy asked about having his lip repainted. Yet, more than half of the replies concern how fast that people THINK he was driving, how fast he SHOULD be driving.

My only regret getting an evo, is the absolute hating and just plain ignorance on this forum. I wish there was an alternative, but there isn't.

i agree, the forum is getting pretty painful when you ask a simple question.... how do i check for BOV leaks because my greddy is leaking... reply, take that thing out of your car, get the MR valve, only losers run greddy's lol..... there is always someone to send in their .02 cents trying to pass them over as gospel and 90% of the people have never had a turbo car other then there evo... not everything is always as it seems, but ofcourse they had it happen to them once, and they now know it all... its sad.... when i first joined thie forum a few years ago, it was much better, you could actually get answers for the questions you asked
