relax bro, be glad the car has a way to tell you something needs a look. It may even have been just a misfire. Take it in and have them read the code, just another reason to drive mellow while breaking it in.

To bad you couldn't get use of an OBD2 scanner.
I have one, are you anywhere near Pasadena ?

It's probably just a loose plug connector or defective sensor.

One thing I noticed about ant_turbo's Evo is the HKS suction intake.

Has ant_turbo's Evo been tuned ?

Its most likely the open gas cap ses, I get it once in awhile on my car and I close my cap until it clicks.

wow - thanks for the help guys! out of curiosity i took a look under the hood and checked the engine oil dipstick...it was fine...then i go to start the car again and voila'...the SES light was GONE!!!...WHEW!!!
i guess i am just overly paranoid...gots to chill...
yeah i am breaking it in - under 3000 rpm and varying speeds under 65 mph until i hit the 1000 mile mark...79 miles thus far...currently i am in tulsa(it's so hee-haw here)...cant wait to finish my last year of residency and get back to CALI...before today i hadnt seen an EVO for 7 weeks, much less a 2006 GSR IX...thanks for offering to help! this forum is awesome...

I have to wonder, is your IX still stock ?
