omg something's wrong wit my evo..pls help!!
ok recently my evo been acting weird.....sometimes the turbo hardly spools at all..i mean i would rev it to like 6000k rpm and the turbo feels really weak..it feels like the turbo is struggling..but sometimes it drives fine..i mean the car idles fine and it drives good but then once a while the boost just isnt there...i have a boost/vacuum guage and when it idles the vacuum use to stay steady at 15..now it drop down to 20..and today i kept trying to hit boost to see if it works but it was so weak and then i started smellin something burning..does anybody know what could be wrong?? basically the car sometimes pulls real hard wit full boost and sometimes the boost just feels really weak like its struggling. this only started happening recently and i only had the car for 2 weeks =T

umm im not sure is it negative or not but the vacuum use to idle on 15 and now it idles at 20....ummm i have an aftermarket hks bov but this never happened b4....oh yea this started happening after i reseted my ECU...but that cant cause the problem can it?? help me!!!!!!
My car's vacuum idles at -20. When boosting it depends on how hard you're on the throttle. If you're at WOT you should be hitting around 20psi at around 3500rpm. Oh yeah you might not be able to hit 20psi in first and second but you should be able to hit it fine in 3rd, 4th and 5th at WOT.

i would rev it to like 6000 rpm and it would only hit like 12-15psi max.....i mean the car still drives and idles perfect except sometimes the boost just spools slightly like its struggling.....sometimes the turbo doesnt even start spooling until like 4500 rpm but when its normal it drives normal....

omg i think ders sumtin wrong wit yo gramma...
On the other hand, it appears your clutch may be on its way out if you are smelling it. You can't boost if you can't put enough load on the motor.

Thats also true TTP. Deegaw11 i guess we are assuming you are stock besides the bov. If you are stock then you should probably hit about 16psi max. Not 20psi. How many miles on your 03 evo? Maybe it is the clutch like TTP says.

well thats what i was thinkin also because something smell burnt but then if my clutch was going out then why would my turbo pull hard sometimes and sometimes not pull at all? and also i am using my stock intake box and the intake snorkel is being held down my zip ties....the intake snorkel is that tube that connects to the filter box right?
right now my 03 evo has about 32000k on it...

it wouldnt pull at all because your clutch isnt grabbing the flywheel and not putting enough load on the engine like TTP said. It would be a very good reason for your problems and is even more supported by the fact you said you can smell something burning. Id either check the clutch yourself or take it to Mitsu and have them check it out.
The intake snorkle connects the airbox to the turbo inlet.
With you having the car for 2 weeks and there being 32k miles on it, i guess you got it used, so the guy before you could have very easily killed the clutch if he beat the crap out of it. Not treated correctly, the clutch would go out in 20k very easily.
