should I mod my evo before 10,000 miles?

Hi I just bought a brand new evo ix couple months ago and right now it only has 1000 miles on it. I really want to buy a new exhaust, intake etc. start mod my babe but my friends said it's really bad for the car if I do any performance modification before at least 3 or 4 oil change, so I figure it'll take a while for my car hit the 10,000 mileage meter. My question is should I listen to my friends and just sit back wait for that long to start working on my car? btw one more simple question, when should I do the first tire rotation for the new evo? because this is my first awd car ^^

i put a cat-back and drop in filter in at 600 miles(the proper break-in mileage) and am fine now with 31K on the odometer. i've never heard of waiting 10K for mods, sounds like someone's trying to sell you a s%*t sandwich!

I'm going to mod mine almost right away, but I'm going to be easy on it until it has around 1K miles on it. Friday just can't come fast enough.

There is no logical reason to wait to mod, start NOW!

And i think the manual says to rotate your tires every 5,000 miles.

Haha. You waited too long to mod AND too long to rotate the tirs. The stockers don't last much more than 10k anyway.

Guy's, good info here, but a Question on the Stage 1 Package:

Coming from the Turbo Buick World (GN TTA etc.) we normally use a Simple $10
Bleeder Valve teed into the Wastegate for RELIABLE boost control, and $40 or so for a Computer Chip...that being said..Why is the Stage 1 package so expensive??

How do you guys control Boost?? How much is the Simple Computer Flash??
How much could a Cat back Exhaust and a Gutted Converter be??

Thanks...just (Re)learning the New Gen turbo's...NOT flaming

Manual boost controller = make yourself for sub $20bucks or what most others do, buy one for $70+.

Cheapest flash is through Dynoflash if you email him you ROM file via ECUFlash it's a $50.00 service.

Megan downpipe/testpipe/catback exhaust can be had for under $500shipped on ebay.

That's how it starts. Soon you'll be like everyone else, trying to decide what you can do to make it a little quicker. It's a curse but it's alot of fun along the way.
