Hey guys - new to the boards...

So what's up?

Little about me - name is Nate, and i work for www.speed-source.net we make those bushings everybody loves and the slick ss clutch lines

anyways i have been a toyotaman for a while - i have a 95 camry that I have had turboed through the shop - you can see pics @ www.angelfire.com/oz2/teamhamster/sbc.html it is a pretty crazy car - full custom interior, bbk, wheels, suspension, kits, HIDS/Projectors etc.

but yeah, i am looking to move on from the project - I have been considering heavily on a couple of options...

1) Pick up a super low mile/new Evo IX... i love what I have been hearing about the cars - we have an XIII in the shop with some mods and it looks very sick - I would like to start with a IX however as I really dig the upgraded front/interior and the power numbers which seem to be in question

2) Pick up a low mileage gs300 and go CRAZY VIP style on it... I am getting to the point where while speed is crazy fun, it is kinda nice to just have a very DRIVEABLE car that looks nice and I can feel good in

3) grab an IS300 and rock it out for a bit - them maybe throw a 2JZGTE into it - my boss did the turbo 2J into his gs300 and loves it... make me want one... would be a nice mix of style and power

anyways, i will be lurking the boards gaining all the info i can - i have been a long standing member on www.toyotanation.com and so i know what forums can do for people.

I love what I hear about the evo... only thing that makes me kinda nervous is drivetrain issues as I have had expirence with a 3000gt and seen/known people with DSM's and trouble... not so sure how much it hurts the evos, but yeah

Convince me to buy an evo! hehe

Go test drive one and actually drive the beast to its limits. Then decide

hey just one question nate. those dyno numbers for the camry you upgraded, were they the numbers before or after the turbo upgrade?? just curious is all

as as far as buying an evo. I think these cars are the best all the way around. handles great, has alot of power coming from factory, responds alright to simple bolt ons and tune, and still maintains the sedan daily driver look. i mean it claims that it can put out a 0.98 G force when in full boost. so yeah if you can test drive one do it and just read around on here......... im sure warrtalon has some convincing ideas......

fortunately the drivetrains are much better than the DSM days, especially on the newer EVOs.

Hey buddy

yeah - those numbers were actually on a bad tune - 5psi - etc. Reason it was a bad tune is that the car kept falling on its face in boost - pulled the plugs and they were gapped to .040 and should have been at .028... the tuning shop just kept adding fuel when the car would fall on its face, instead of looking at some basic ignition problems i.e. maybe the car isn't BURNING all the fuel we are putting in lol

now i am running around 7 psi, with 10 spikes, on a better tune (we bought a wideband and hit the streets) so i am hoping it is more around 180/190 whp

It is not to shabby, considering the car would probably dyno around 105/110whp from stock

ANWAYS too slow all and all imo for the money, plus car needs so much body work, time to move on!
