all i know is when i got the car they told me that they put a new ecu in.we are just assuming they was trying to tune it for the bov. about 3 days after i got the car ses light came on . i change it for a stock bov and light came off. the code that it was spiting was running too rich . after that i went to open the car up . thats when i notice that in 1st and 2nd gear i can go to 7000rpm. in 3rd im stoped about 6000rpm and 4th and 5th im stoped at 5500rpm.it does this at wot and low throttle.not sure what im boosting at but the car pulls on the low end but dies out on the top.all they could get from the test they ran today is that the car was running rich or the computer thinks the car is running rich .

Ok, well no, first of all they can't tune the ECU to begin with. Second of all, there is no such thing as tuning for a VTA BOV. What code tells you its rich? I've never seen such a code, and that's despite stock Evo tunes dropping into the 9 AFRs. Not much of this makes any sense so far...

When I had my car at the shop, they scanned his ses light and it gave the tuner a rich code. So he deleted the code but the ses light came back. Changed the bov and the light is now off for good. Have to see what a/f is running at.

What is a rich code? I still haven't heard of any rich code. We need to know the actual code itself (PO300? PO401?).

I'm off to the car to try to get some sleep, I'll be heading home at around 5:30am or so. Don't forget to get your gauges and phone charger tomorrow.

That would be caused by hitting fuel cut multiple times. Fuel cut is most likely to happen in higher gears, and for each higher gear you go, the fuel cut will happen at a lower rpm. Incidentally, this matches your symptoms above, but I'd hope that you would recognize fuel cut, since it's like hitting a brick wall.

And what happened to the notion that it was a "rich" code?
