RS vs MR

I am looking to get a IX. I don't really care for the radio, power windows, locks, etc. that come on the MR, but I do like the 6 speed. Do the gear ratio's and the extra gear on the MR make that much of a difference to justify the extra cost? Are there any other performance differences between the RS and MR besides the Bilstein struts, wing, and vortex generators?

That's about it. Take a ride on the highway in both and see what you prefer. It may be harder to get an RS...

Honestly,
I love my RS. It's a evo in the rawest form. It take sometime getting adjusted to not having ABS. Other then that the car is great. I didnt appreciate my car til I drove my buddies IX MR. IMO the RS feels more solid the tranny doesnt shift as smoothly as the MR and also the interior in quieter in the MR. Even my friend with the MR loved driving my RS.
Save your self the extra cash and get an RS. You can always add a radio and a wing if you feel it's necessary. Either way your getting a awesome car

Does the MR have a higher top end because of the 6th gear?

From my experience racing a RS yes it does...you'll start to pull back on them in 5th gear for sure.

if the creature comforts dont bother you then go for the rs, its sooo not worth to spend around 7 or 8 more grand just for the 6 speed, put that money into mods!

The RS weighs less then a 100 pounds LESS Then a MR, but You can have an RS for $25,999 From CA, then ship it, nothing qrong with an RS. The RS for sure would have better top end as it has way less down force, if you took the wing off the MR and some of the ZERO Lift kit, the MR may Edge, either way ALL were tested by R&T around a track, meaning

RS
IX
IXMR,
the MR won but the Snapshot had them all withing a couple of feet an mili-seconds, really no difference.

RS is the Cheapest way to go.

True the RS may have the better top speed because of less down force but you get less stability.

The RS is a true sports car, built for nothing but being a sports car.... I sure do love my power options and sunroof though!

get the RS. unless you have friends that don't know how to lock the door and roll up the window at a car wash.just happened to me 10 min ago.went out to iowa and had to wash the bugs off. about the top speed, i hit 140 without a sweat at partial throttle ( country road with no cars.SPEEDING IS BAD!) with 4 people in the car.felt pretty damn stable. .02

The MR is slower in the quarter mile cause of the extra gear and people have been blowing there 6 speed trannys my opinion is RS>MR but GSR>RS cause I need A/C and a radio in my daily driver. Dont get me wrong the MR is a sweet car just not worth the money to me. I spent that extra 5 grand on mods

USDM RS comes with factory A/C.

It is also prewired and prepped for a stereo. If you want to add one, all that is required is a head unit and speakers. Simple plug and play.
