Oh ya I drive an 8 maybe the nine is different maybe search. don't cross thread your filter when you put new one on and use a mitsu filter and crush washer.

In 1992 I bought a turbo DSM and traded it in 2003 for my Evo. The manual says to replace the crush washer. Well, the DSM was traded in with the crush washer it came with. The Evo has 30k on it (9 oil changes) and I am still using the crush washer that it came with. Neither ever leaked.

One time I just hand tightened the oil filter like it says to do on the filter. Usually I would tighten it some more with the filter wrench. Well, that one time it leaked. I notice the service manual now gives a torque setting for tightening the oil filter. I just continue to do as I did on my DSM - hand tight and a little more.

As for oil 10W-30 full synthetic for year around use or something with a little more viscosity for hot weather.
