Evo IX trade-in value..yea right??!!!

I was playing with numbers today and trying to deside if it would be a good financial move to trade my IX in for a 06 Civic LX. I came to this because the it's getting hard on a brother to live out here in California with the high utility prices and all. I love my Evo, but at 26 having just purchased my first house, Im trying to get a better fianancial footing, and paying $3.89 a gallon getting 16 miles a gallon isnt' helping.

So anyway I called this Honda dealer and told him that I was looking at the 4dr civic LX and I was trying to get it at the Costco Invoice of $15,780. He told me that the best he could do was $17,900 (Which he said was $900 over invoice) and that he only had 1 in stock which wasn't the color I wanted (wanted white)...hey, it's like 115 out here in the CA desert! lol. Then he asked me what I had for trade-in. I told him an 06 Mitsu Lancer Evolution with 5,800 miles on it...stock with a clear bra. He told me he would have to run the numbers and get back with me but that I should expect a "large trade-in value" for that car. He calls back about 15 mins later and said that he can get me $23,000 for my Evo. I was like !!!!?!??!?!?! I told him if he can get me Evo IX's with 5K miles on them for $23,000 I'll take 2.

Was this guy just trying to pull a fast one or is the IX really that under valued?? At this point losing that much on the trade-in wouldn't make up for the savings in gas!

the evo is still a mitsu, not a honduh or toyco, thus lower resale value unfortunately =(

Thats way to low. I looked up the nada value on an 05 evo vIII(06 not available) with 20k miles and it came close to 28 k on and evo VIII. They are trying to screw you badly.

never....ever....ever....trade a car into a dealer sell it through the autotrader or a comparable magazine if you care about getting top doallar.

If you traded it for that youd drive by the dealer in a week and see your "$23,000" evo on sale $32,000

has anyone tried a Mitsu dealer? The 9.5 or SE really sounds good I thought about possibly trading in my evo 9 for one. But then again the difference between the two would allow me to get more mods for my 9.

I know that personally I would kill myself if I traded in my IX for a Honda....Unless it was an 05 S2K.

Try to understand that it is purely a financial decision. I love my Evo...even though it makes alot of squeeks, chirps and rattles, but it's always a joy to drive. But Im just trying to get to a point in my life where All I really have is my house payment +bills. I work with alot of guys with sports cars. Im in my 20's and they're all in their 40's and they buy their cars with cash. I really want to get to that point where I don't have to worry about financing a car. Don't hate a brother for trying to get ahead....

The Dealership is F...ing you. I checked the Kelly Blue book for a 2005 Evo VIII with 5,000 miles. (They don't have values listed for the Evo IX's yet.)http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/ke.kb.s...&&usedCars;slp

2005 GSR 5k
Trade-In value $25,875
Retail value $31,095

Your intentions are good but I think you are going about it the wrong way. What's the point of trading it in for more car payments? You are basically eating a huge amount of depreciation on your car to step into another car that will instantly depreciate tremendously as well. If you are serious and want to do it right, sell your car private party and buy something cheap and used

here is an idea... you can get 25 miles per gallon roughly if you dont drive the car like you stole it all the time. if a cheaper payment is what you are looking for...so be it, but if gas is the only motivation, drive slower.... stay out of boost
