It is by no means a waste of money to get flashed now, especially when there's a chance no other custom tune will be available to him in the future. He can still get the tactrix cable and get e-flashes later if/when he adds mods, and they will be free!! He won't pay for them, since he's already paid for a custom tune...

Yes, option B is better than a cat-back, especially since his pump gas is 90oct. To go that other route, he'd have to get a cheap cat-back, and he would still pay more money than he would for just the custom flash...plus, he'd NEVER have a custom tune with subsequent free e-flashes.
That's good to hear.

I say leave the car stock till you have like $2000 to invest. MBC will void warranty, and I don't think it's worth it if you have any warranty left.

how would you have the money to put race gas in the car daily and not have the money for a TBE?

"Race gas for a daily driver" When did that come up? I have some race gas and if I can get a RAce gas Tune that would be cool, I'm not going to fill the tank up with Race gas everyday.

My car feels sluggish( whether it's the 90 octane or not) It wont hurt to do alittle custom tune to extract some HP. The Boost controler can wait and so can all the other mods. My goal is not to build a monster like 2 weeks after getting an Evo lol..I have another project I wish to finish before starting this one.

Well, the point is it makes no sense to get tuned on race gas unless you are going to run that daily, because then you'd be lean with too much timing - it would be very unsafe.

It is, but then you have to be prepared with EcuFlash, which you haven't mentioned. I still don't recommend doing a race gas tune on higher boost with the stock exhaust. Al won't recommend it either.

exactly. tune for the fuel you're going to use most of the time and call it a day.

I still think you should save $2000 and then do everything right all at once with a custom tune and you're done.

Why do you say that byron when there's no guarantee that Al will be back to Alaska when this guy needs him and no real c hance of any other custom tuner ever going there, since none have done it previously?

Also, what's so bad about enjoying his car with an additional 30whp/30wtq from an invisible mod that doesn't change the sound or looks of the car at all? Sounds like poor advice to me to tell the guy to wait many months to save $2000 and then sit around hoping that Al returns to a place he's never gone to before...think about the fact this guy is in Alaska.

Either just a tune or tune and MBC...doesn't matter. The tune is invisible and good for 30whp/30wtq usually. With MBC and flash on 93oct, we've seen as much as 50whp...

Dont worry Warrtalon I dont get discouraged from what I want to do very easily. If you say the Flash will give me atleast 20-30 whp on a stock Evo then that's good enough for me. I'm not in a hurry to see what 300whp feels like, I already know...I just need something a little quicker for now.

Next summer I will purchase your Stage 1 Bouscher Kit It comes with everything I need + A flash for $1300...Not bad if you ask me

don't think I'm being discouraging, i just don't want you to waste money on power you're not going to feel. I would go with flash only instead of flash +MBC. IMO I'd rather keep my very weak warranty intact until you're going to for more. If you get an MBC, I love my forge one.

Flash = no warranty if they find it. A MBC can be easily reversed if the car needs to go in for work and is arguably the best bang for the buck mod. If he's going with the tune it makes no sense not to get a ~$90 boost controller.
