Test Drove Evo ix..damn car has torque.
Hey Guys I'm in the market for a new car and I'm considering the evo as a potential candidate. I test drove the car about 4 days ago and all I have to say is that it felt so good. I want to feel that rush again.lol. It's funny because I didn't expect the torque delivery to come so early in the rev range. As I was going through the gears I noticed it wasn't as smooth as a honda gearbox but I didn't care at that given moment. As for the clutch pedal I did find it to be a bit stiff, which I didn't like. It also seemed as if the clutch was a long throw. The power delivery is def. their. Anyways I'm really considering this car, I've already gotten a couple of quotes for insurance and for me it's not to bad since I'm 25 years old. I would really like to hear from some of the evo 9 owners. What do you guys think of the clutch? short throw or long throw? Stiff or soft clutch? At the moment I'm not sure what I want to do. For now I'm looking to hear some reviews from actaul evo owners.
Respectfully,
-John

I test drove one, guy let me have at it so I wasn't going to object...definitely more torquey than most make it sound...everything felt smooth...clutch wasn't that bad to me but at the same time I've only driven high performance cars and nothing with a lot of miles...so the clutches were never featherweights
I currently have an STi and the clutch is definitely a longer throw in the evo
I'm picking up a IX MR in a week or two and don't plan on looking back

I like my car alot. Clutch didn't really feel that hard at all. Drive a DSM with an ACT 2600. That's hard.

Could somone please post a side view picture of the clutch and brake pedal. I want to see if they're aligned to each other or if the clutch pedal is higher than the brake pedal. Thanks guys.

by any chance do you think you could take a picture of the clutch and brake pedal arrangement. I want the car so bad, but I just want to make sure I'm making the right move.
Thanks in advance,

My clutch is real stiff, and its been like that since day one, but the evo IX clutch should be real soft. I don't know why my clutch is stiff, but I took it to 2 dealers and they set it was fine.

To me the clutch is alittle stiff, but i love it. I came from a vwgti 1.8t, which has the softest, mushiest clutch ever. In the base IX, i do feel the shifter throw is alittle too long, but nothing that couldn't be remedied!
