I love my evo however I get tired driving it in stop and go traffic and the lack of lowend tq to get you moving from a stop kind of sucks. Once your in the powerband its great.... Something like an r32 would be a nice daily driver nice lowend tq and still pretty fast and its a lot more fancy.

AWD and FWD are totally different. keep in mind that awd is grippy, you wont burn/peel out...and if you do it'll be hard. you cant chirp as you would any honda. try to chirp and you'l hear your rear diff make a clunk, possibly causing damage. evos arent meant for drag...but there are guys who happen to use it for that.

i say you look at VWs. Golfs are nice. R32 has awd, GTI has turbo. Audi A4s are nice...awd turbo...might be a bit too pricy.

but your choice of car should depend on what you are planning to do with it.
+1. why not just get an 06 civic si? its a little sportier than the rsx, and you can find a lot more mods for it if you are going in that direction. think about it though, which car would you rather see yourself driving? an rsx or an evo?

I can really see my self driving an Evo, the RSX was my first choice, until my dad said that he would help me pay for car, then the EVO came up. I have a close family friend who races in the SCCA, he is also a mechanic for mercedes, he does a lot of work with EVO's and RSX's. If I were to get a used Evo, he told me that he can get me parts and reflashes almost for free. He owns a store in HK that sells parts to aftermarket vehicles. That in itself is giving me enough confindence to just go ahead and buy a used evo. I have taken a look at the Si, I dont like it, the styling is just not for me. Im pretty much stuck on an RSX or Evo, there is no changing that.

SI is similar to the RSX type s...they're practically the same, just different looks. oh, and the SI is OVERPRICED! i have 2 friend (one in OC the other an hour north of santa barbra)who both got black fully loaded SIs. they ended up paying OVER $30,000. could've gotten a Evo IX RS or GSR

you said that you relative is a mechanic. unless he's there with you to look at it and opens up the transmission. it'll be useless. especially if you buy the VIII that has no rev limiter.

thats you. i think they're over priced. i'd rather get a RS and spend the extra on the car or something. i got my IX GSR for cheaper than both of my friend that got SIs.

overpriced how? only if you're willing to pay over the $20,500 MSRP or if you want it fully loaded with nav another $2500, but who would pay over MSRP? my wife just got one and it's probrably the best car you can buy for $20K, and even though it uses a K20 and 6-speed like an RSX, the suspension handles better, not to mention the helical LSD that the rsx doesn't have, even as an option, and even the base Si has a 350 watt 7-speaker stereo with sub, full power, sunroof, and a nicer interior than my evo. overpriced, i don''t get it, did you pay over MSRP for your evo? then why would someone on a civic?

both of them had theirs fully loaded. if you get your SI for 20k. sure that's a good price. but a little over 30k...common, that's a bit high for a civic.

i guess the civic is better than the rsx. but i dont really care. i have my evo that costed less than 30k. i'm happy =)

you don't get it, a fully loaded with everything you can get 06 Si doesn't even cost close to $30K MSRP and if people are willing to pay more than MSRP, i'm sorry they're idiots IMHO.

why would u wanna get a rsx.. that car is very heavy.. and not worth the money.. if your looking for something nice just get like a tsx or something but if your looking to go fast then just get like a ek aka a 97 hatch and swap the rsx motor in and you will be set... as for buying a used evo.. i really wouldnt worry bout it.... just carfax it see how long they kept it stuff like that.. and have some one give it a once over.. the stuff that usualy goes out on a evo is the clutch, tranny, turbo, transfercase... but i wouldnt really worry bout that. u can always pick up an extented warranty not from the manufacture, but from a 3rd party and you should be fine...

I think thats the best idea if I get an evo, to have our family friend go with me to get it and give it a once over. Thanks a lot for all the input guys, sorry, I didnt mean for this thread to get into an RSX vs. Si topic.

your friends are morons, the only options are nav and summer tires which comes in at @ $22k.

if you post in your regional forum, you may be able to find an evo owner local that would go check it out with you and knows what to look for. that's what i would do. and sorry for getting off topic with the Si vs. RSX thing.
