Want A Evo Bad!!!
Want A Evo Bad!!!
I want an evo so bad, money is not an issue for me but I would not like to pay $35K+ on the new evo9... So is it reliable buying a used evo 8?? Do there engines handle good? strong?...... or if I buy used I should expect some minor problems??
Why would you pay $35k plus?
You can get a brand new IX GSR from Southcoast Mitsubishi for like $28k and either have them ship it or fly out there and have a fun roadtrip home.

That is the reason that you are going to southcoast, and driving it home. Because southcoast is not where you are, because where you are is expensive, and southcoast is cheap. Evos are fun, buy new though, used is a poopshoot,
Dealers here in GA are selling used IX's for $30K plus. New, yeah, look at closer to $40k. But , if money is definately not an issue for you, don't buy a used Evo. Not worth it the stress. Get it shipped if you have to, like Wolf said.

I just wish I had known the South Coast was going to continue their rock bottom prices in June when I bought my Evo here in AZ on May 31st for $32,XXX

like any car, used or new, it is a vehicle that is driven on the road so yes, there may be some minor annoyances like squeaks, rattles, and since it has factory aftermarket stuff(brembos and such), they will equate to even more annoyances, i have only had mine for 4 months, bought used w/8000 miles, 4000 miles later its giving me no problems engine wise and being a mechanic, i like to overlook the kooky noises..... a great car for sure
Remember, when you buy new you will get better interest rates than you will get on a used car. That combined with the deals you can get from South Coast will save you a bundle over a used VIII.
Everyone always says to buy new, buy new, buy new. Well, for those of us that don't, or should I say didn't, want to spend $30k+ on a car buying used is a good option. I bought a used 03 with 35k about a month ago for $21,200 in perfect condition. You can't tell me that a new IX is $10,000 better than a used VIII. In a year or two I am going to buy a used IX and save money again. Of course, it is true that buying a used car is a bit of a crap shoot, but after a test drive and an inspection by a mechanic you will have a pretty good idea if it is in good shape or not. I would try to get one as closed to stock as possible. While these cars are driven hard, it is more likely that someone with a stock car didn't drive it as hard as someone with a heavily modified car.

It's your money, spend it any way you like.
Same here.
I've never bought a used car, and never would. Especially a high-performance car - you just never know how it was treated; i.e. - did they break it in properly? Was it raced, modified?
Only ones you might feel comfortable with are used Vettes, as the majority of owners never seem to drive them any faster than 40 mph anyway...
I was going to buy used until I got sick of trying to find one that wasnt driven by a 16 year old, completely beat up, thrashed on a daily basis, in a wreck, manufacturer buy back due to lemon law, or just plain never taken care of. And I was only looking at 05's with under 10k miles. Do yourself a huge favor, get a carfax report before you buy used! I almost bought a used VIII MR the other day for cheap until I got the vehicle history report back! Buy back due to engine failure, wouldn't bother me a bit since Mitsubishi put a brand new engine back in and offered the remainder of the warrenty, it is just like any other used car. But if I were to try and sell it two years down the road and some one got a carfax report, it would say the same thing and it would probably be a pain to sell it without giving it away.
You are buying a car that was designed to be driven to the extreme, for that matter it should hold up well, but why risk it?
