did any of you guys pass up another car for your evo?
I was just wondering because i had to choose between an evo or an 03 cobra and as you can see i bought the evo so i was just wondering if other people had a few cars to choose from and what were they and how come they chose the evo over the other cars?
96'FD3S rebuild
S14.5 with S15 front end
S13 Sil-80 with RB drop
G35C
04' 330ci
03' M3
Last and the most............05' STI
I personally test drove all of above, and Evo all the way man.

Came really close to purchasing a 03 Cobra which was modified. It was pretty much the torqiest (is that a word) car I've ever driven.
In the end I was 95% sure I wanted that Cobra but the wife made me think of other things, like our daughter trying to fit in that back seat (car seat) haha. Plus it had 25K miles on it....
Ended up getting the IX in the end
Don't regret it one bit.

I was super close to buying an 05 Sti after my civic was stolen. Then I got to check out the Evo at the denver car show. I was at the dealer the next weekend for a test drive and I ended up driving home in one.
That was in April, and the car still puts a smile on my face everytime I get inside.

Yep, I traded in my 02 Camaro SS for my 04 Evo RS. Don't regret it either.
Don't get me wrong, I loved having 325 horses under my hood and that V8 roar. However I found that thing was only good for a straight line...and the traction...the lack there of that is.

The only other real competition was an '06 STI. I had briefly considered either a GTO or an S2000, but it really came down to either the Evo or STI.
I had been wanting the STI for years, and in fact I could get one for cheaper than the Evo (since I work for a dealership that has a Subaru franchise), and if it were still the Evo VIII, there'd probably be an STI in my garage right now.
However, after reading about all the awesome improvements Mitsubishi made to the IX, and then finally getting to see one in person at the Pittsburgh Auto show this past February, I decided that was the route I wanted to go.
Then I found out that they were only going to make the IXs for (basically), one model year, which means I had to accelerate my time frame for getting one.
Luckilly, South Coast was running their "March Madness" special at the time, so I was able to get a brand new MR for an awesome price!
Still a couple grand more than I could have gotten an STI for (especially when you add in the cost for having it shipped to me), but in the end I still feel like I made the right decision - not only is the IX faster and better handling right out of the box, but it has incredible mod potential for a lot less money than it would cost for the Subaru to get to the equivalent level.

STI, I would get both, but its not financially smart to do so at this point.

Sold my 01 s2000, was either considering an STI or an EVO MR, in the end went cheap and got the 03 evo, loving it ever since and keeps me coming back for more, Will try again for the MR and end of year
06 Porsche 997S - had the deal set up and then the dealer started changing his tune on what he was going to give me for my M3 so I said forget it and decided I didn't want to spend that much.
06 STI - Insurance for the STI was a lot higher than for the EVO for whatever reason so I went for the EVO. In hindsight I'm really glad I did.
