June 2006 sales for the Lancer Evolution IX were up 40% compared to June 2005 sales. July 2006 sales of the Lancer Evolution IX were even better, with 58% more Lancer Evolution IXs being sold compared to July 2005. Overall Mitsubishi Motors had it 6th straight month of 10,000 sales, something it has not done in many years. Sales overall were up 1.2% compared to July 2005.

I hope so too. But I believe things are starting to look up. The Eclipse was a very important ingredient for a Mitsubishi turn around. Sales of the Eclipse started off slowly, but in 2006 have really, really picked up. I also believe the new Outlander will be a surprisingly good seller, the price is good, the power is on par with others, and it just really looks good in my opinion (especially compared with the last generation Outlander)

Late Fall 2005 is when the IX first went on sale in the USA I believe

 

When I bought mine, early Feb 2006, South Coast Mitsubishi sold like 8 others that day, they also sold a couple of Lancers.

 

Also I must admit I absolutely love this car!!!! I mean I had such high expectations for it before I even bought it, I was a little nervious about it living up to it. But it not only lived up to it, but surpassed my expectations. The difference is, I did my homework, I researched and obsessed over this car for nearly three years, so I thought I knew everything to expect. But I never expected that this car could still bring such a huge smile to my face everytime I really put the pedal to floor. I'm glad it is selling well.

 

Yeah, a new model always spikes sales but usually lessens after that. The new Eclipse seems to be holding it's own which is very encouraging. I personally think Mitsu dropped the ball on this Eclipse (and the previous gen) but they are getting a new demographic to buy their cars so it might all work out. I don't see the enthusiast/tuning crowd getting the Eclipse...it seems to be the same non-modders who are buying Z's.
