Is this a good deal?

I have an 04 GSR with about 71k on it. Recently I've been thinking about trading in my EVO for a IX MR. The thing is my car still runs awesome and mechanically its a 10/10. But I recently changed jobs and I don't need to travel anymore so I wanted to start over with a fresh ride.

A couple of days ago I contacted the dealership I originally purchased the car from. They are about 360 miles away from me but since they gave me such a good deal on my 8 I wanted to give them the repeat business.

Here are the details of the deal I'm currently working on...

$35k - purchase price of the new IX - MR
$15.5k - what they want give me for my excellent condition 04 GSR w/71k(edmunds lists it at $21,040!)
$12.5k - what I still owe on my car

I ran the numbers and with 5% interest for 60months its going to be about $580/month which is almost $250 more a month then what I'm currently paying for the 8.

I left the conversation asking for more leverage on the trade in. We haven't even talked about down payment or financing yet so my monthly estimate could go up or down.

Whats your input?

you need to have them appraise your car to get a better value and what is the exact payoff

i've had all the maintenance performed at the dealer, even the 60k, not this specific dealer but a certified mitsu dealer. The car is in excellent shape both phyiscally and mechanically. There is only one door ding on the entire vehicle, I take great care of all my cars.

Also I have the SS&L package.

what about pits is the front end pitted up. Get all your service records it will give more leverage. the door thing id no biggie its gonna cost them 60 bucks to fix it. ok if you have ssl 16.5 is without ssl. dont use edmunds use kbb you are looking between fair anf good value and if it is immaculate and they dont need to do any reconditioning be firm with the good value. if it needs some recon adjust accordingly. Those service records will help especially when they resell the car. But they will need to see it either way so they probably wont be able to give you a hard figure until you showup. a good detail wont hurt either get it clayed and waxed before you show up

can you say post *****?? lol anyways as for the new evo. if the payments dont put you up alot or even upside down. id go for it. also are you modded? if so what kinda mods do you have. i mean in all reality if your car is running sick what would be the point of getting a car with less power. i mean you could always just throw those mods back on but hey whatever.

which you may have them throw that into your deal asking them to transfer some of your parts to the new car

Got my IX GSR for 31,292 OTD in November of 2005. You'll get a much better price with the GSR, unles you absolutely want a MR... My advice... Sell your car privately for retail and buy a GSR...

The first offer any dealer gives you is going to be ridiculously in their favor. Unless you are friends with the sales person or sales manager that you are working with. Dealers out here will let go of an MR for between 33k and 33.5k (Tax and licensing not included). And 15.5k is too lowball for your car. It sounds like you have a lot more room to work them down. Also, if you sold your car private party, you'd get a lot more for it.
